Honestly, it's always hard to know how good a draft really is before hand.

Getting draft capital for guys like Levert makes a ton of sense.

It’s clear the Cavs valued the long term cap flexibility over a better player now

Unless the Sixers trade Simmons this week to a different team. IMO, I think both teams are in a staring contest right now waiting to see who blinks.

It’s fun though

The nets know they have the biggest chip out there

And I just don’t buy the hawks deal after everything we’ve seen so far

That's just it though, I think the trade would make the Nets better right now too. If Simmons has been working out at all, it shouldn't take too long for him to be in game shape. Just the addition of his elite level defense while removing Hardens lack of defense would improve them a lot.
You are kind of making the argument for why the Nets do not have leverage in this deal if they are the team that 'might' benefit the most from this trade.

It's so hard to know what's real and what's a smokescreen, but ultimately, I don't think anything happens.
It's all just posturing.

I think it is possible that Simmons is on the Sixers still on Saturday. But I would hope that Morey does something to improve the team in the interim. Getting another legitimate ball handler, even if they aren't top tier, seems to be a priority.

I would much rather see the Sixers pursue a deal with Washington for Beal or with Kings for Halliburton and Barnes than Harden and Nets. According to Bill Simmons, he says that Sixers have a potential Beal deal and Harden deal on the table and are weighing which one to go with.

One thing that would REALLY shock is if the Sixers trade Thybulle or Maxey. I think there is close to a zero percent chance that they trade Maxey. There is a higher chance they trade Thybulle but I think that is really small as well as his defense is really needed.

I'm not as high on Beal. Our backcourt is small as it is. We would get run over with a Beal/Curry backcourt.

A player's value is based on 2 things. How much a team values that player and how much other teams that want that player value the player. And on court contribution is only part of that equation. Age and contract situation also matter.

I read a lot of stuff about possible Harden trades but we really have no idea what teams are even interested in going after Harden.

Leaving aside that he's already given a list of teams that he is willing to play for, the truth is that he's 32 years old and will be getting a huge contract that will almost CERTAINLY be a huge albatross by the end of the contract. Paying Harden 53 million in the 2025-2026 sounds painful. So how many teams are REALLY interested in doing that? And how many want to give up a ton of assets in order to do that?

Would the Cavs, for instance, be willing to give up some of their top young assets to get Harden? Maybe. But I would suspect not.
Of course not but they are in a rebuild that had an unexpected jump this year like Memphis. I don't think Philly is in a rebuild, they are in win-now. I also never suggested Philly would have to give up a ton. Again, my proposed deal isn't a ton

If Thybulle and DG weren’t around I would agree.

I can see ATL doing it bc of the Collins situation but even in that scenario it seems like Morey wants a ton. Taking Harris back isn't bad for ATL though bc I think he fits

The Collins issue is that it necessitates another move in moving Tobias Harris, a difficult contract to move and get value.

If we are talking about Simmons, I think that is part of it but I also don't think Simmons makes sense after the Mobley pick. He can essentially be Simmons but much better offensively. There is no spot for Simmons bc Markkanen can spread the floor and still play solid defense at 7'0". Before the Mobley pick it made a little more sense but Cleveland needs shooting.

Yes and no. Not sure what is going on with Harden and if KD still wants him on the team...the Nets still have a chance to work things out there. With the Sixers and Simmons, it's over. There's no mending fences. Plus, the Sixers will have to add filler to make the deal work under the cap.

I agree with you. I'll be surprised if the trade actually happens.

That is interesting, I thought Washington was trying to lure Beal back with a potential move but that really doesn't make sense bc they just don't have the roster. Might be time to start from scratch and trade Beal. Even though Beal is struggling I think that is the best move for Philly.

I don't know what Morey is looking for with regards to the Hawks. If Collins was the centerpiece then the Hawks would HAVE to take back Harris because the Sixers couldn't have Collins and Harris on the team.

No chance. Kinda like the Cavs rumored to trade Sexton or Okoro in the LeVert deal. There is no need for them to give up Maxey or Thybulle and Morey wouldn't but another piece like Green or Curry...possibly depending on who they are targeting

I know you aren't a fan of Beal but imo that is the best fit. He fits next to Maxey and Embiid. You keep Harris to play the 4.

If Atlanta is the spot it’s going to be a massive deal with the Sixers moving 67 million in Harris and Simmons. It’s going to have to involve 3 maybe 4 teams to make it work. I’m not seeing something that intricate coming together before Thursday.

I would love this, CLE can get in the action and hopefully get Curry out of the deal for the SA 2nd
