The Kyrie trade was a very different situation.

I agree that at some point they will likely need to settle on something considerably less than what they wanted. However, that doesn't mean they need to do it right now. A month ago, the market was dead for Simmons. Now there are 2 teams that could legitimately make a move that wouldn't a month ago. Portland and Sactown. A month from now, there could be a few more.

I would expect that he is traded by the deadline. It's not that I think that CJ is a bad value. It's that he's a bad fit.

Um it sounds like Portland was willing to make a move for Simmons on a reasonable trade

Once again, Morey was high as a kite when trying to make a deal

Yes yes. Morey terrible. You've made that point very clear.

This is the second source to say the trade off that you insisted was wildly false, was real

Well that's the thing. How do CJ and Curry work together? It's not like Doc Rivers is some tactical genius.

You could ask the same thing on dame and curry.

Same speed bump

I said no such thing. I said that we don't know what the trade offer was or the counter-offer.

According to Shams the Blazers were willing to trade CJ, a pick plus a young player. Morey asked for CJ and multiple picks.

But, IMO, if both sides were seriously interested in making a deal then they should have found a happy middle given their 2 starting points. But the truth is that Morey was going big game hunting and wanted Lillard while, according Shams, Olshey thought his roster was already really good.

Given that he got fired and Morey is still in a very secure situation, I would say it was Olshey who screwed up.

Well they can’t make the deal now anyway because of the pick that Portland owes Chicago.

I really don’t think we should be talking about Simmons being traded. That would mean he might have to get back on the court and thinking about that could put his mental health over the edge and there is no telling what he might do. We all have a responsibility here, can’t put too much pressure on this guy.

You do get that leaving Philly takes the pressure off him right?

At least for awhile.

Philly isn’t exactly an easy place to play.

Honestly we shouldn’t talk about it, just pay him the rest of his contract.

Philly should have paid him, let him sit and stay under the radar instead of calling him out publicly.

They might already have a quality trade lined up had they taken that tact.

Give him the key to the city, he is a model advocate for mental health issues.

Not going that far.

But you want to act like the 6ers have done nothing wrong.

Best case scenario is that they have contributed to their player relationship becoming toxic.

Remove the player, let him start over and the toxicity causing the stress and anxiety is gone.

Pretty simple.

You know what I mean.

And it would have been a terrible mistake not to extend him.

No it wouldn’t have, you have a guy that shows no interest in improving his game for the team you trade him, cut him, or shoot him. Do whatever you have to do to keep this from happening.

When they signed him, he had a ton of trade value.

They should have signed him, then traded him.

Letting him walk was not the right answer.

Trade would be the one that would help the team.

Shooting him is counterproductive.

But honestly probably pretty similar end result to the route they took.
