Beiber first soils Selena and now the cup

You know, I understand the whole "earn the right to lift it over your head" thing...but as a female, I pretttty much have no chance. So, basically, if I get the chance to lift it, I probably will.

Two things:

A) According to the interwebs, there are 2300 or so names on the cup as of 2006. 12 of those are women. Now it's not a fair ratio (or even anywhere near remotely close), I realize, but there is a way to get on the cup. Sadly, it isn't by playing the game on the ice. Which brings me to my second point:

B) That's not any different for my fat ass, or the vast vast vast majority of gents, either.


I'm not saying don't lift it if you get the chance. I'm saying I wouldn't, even if the Flyers won. My opinion is that as a fan, I can touch it if my team wins it, but I can't lift it over my head unless I am part of the group that wins it (either via on ice or off ice). You know what they say about opinions and assholes, though...

I didn't lift over my head, a bit too heavy for at the time... but I did lift it... what 10 yr old wouldn't lift the cup if they had the chance?

Those 12 women are probably front office types...that's my assumption. I do think you have to earn the right, but if I were given it by a player, I'd do it. My only shot would be working my way into the pros as an AT...and trust me, that'd take a good 30 years as a woman.

I have always shown the proper respect for the Cup. I can honestly say I've NEVER touched or lifted the Cup when my favorite team has won it and I have proof !!

Pretty sure nothing is worse than the guy from Def Leppard. He lifted it up over his head, kissed it, then set it down upside down.

Of course, if it was their drummer that did all that, I think a lot of people might have been able to look past his poor etiquette.
