To add, I think Marty has lost confidence in himself due to the shambles of a season the devils are having.
Like my signature states, you have to believe in yourself first, which right now Marty doesn't have.

mm i hope Marty does get his head in the right place and puts in some strong performances. This season is a horrible one for him to end his career on after all he's done for the Devils so i'd hope some rest and an overhaul of the Devils and he'll get back on his feet just until it is time for him to stop.

There can be carry-over effects from one season to another as a product of shutting it down in the offseason and then not being able to get it back again the next season.

Again I draw my baseball analogy. Cole Hamels threw 200 innings for the first time in his life the first year the Phillies won the world series. Ever since, he hasn't been the same. He was fine during the stretch, but in following seasons, he struggled. I think that can also be the case for goaltenders, and I think it's entirely feasible that's what's happening with Brodeur.

I understand what you're saying, but you're comparing a 27 year old with one season of getting a ton of work to a 38 year old who's played 70+ regular season games 12 times in his career, including 10 straight (if you don't count the lockout year).

No offense, but I think it's a bad comparison given Brodeur's history in the league vs. only 5 career seasons for Hamels.
