Celebration is one of my favorites. Always anticipate it's release every year since I first tried it.

My 3 favorite breweries are:

Lagunitas, in California.
Victory, in Pennsylvania
Great Lakes, in Cleveland.

I'm an IPA guy for the most part

I absolutely despise IPAs. Was at a friends house near a bar, and some of our friends at the bar told us they got a free pitcher, so we ran to meet them...DOUBLE IPA. Just blech.l

Yeah....Double IPA's are a little much if you've never had just a regular IPA before

You might want to stay away from the 120 minute IPA then...

I love that beer.

Is there anyone who actually LIKES light beer?

The people who make that crap should be glad they can survive without my business!

They market exceptionally well. People who don't know any better (i.e. haven't tried the good stuff, and really given it a chance) jump at their ads. Eventually, it becomes all they know. That becomes "real" beer to them.

And it's cheap, has little taste (and is therefore non controversial among their market), and doesn't sit heavy in your stomach (which appeals to people who just want to get drunk off it).

(Also, they cornered the market coming out of prohibition.)

They market it RELENTLESSLY but I'm not sure that qualifies as marketing well.

I doubt I would like it even if I had never tasted the better stuff. My 1st ever taste of rye whiskey
resulted in an immediate spit-out and a yell of "NEVER AGAIN!"from me. likewise my first taste
of an anchovy pizza 20 some-odd years ago.

I'm fond of Trappists, but only in moderation. A couple a week max. Same with wheat beers, pilsners, and a few other styles.

That's moderation? I might have one every other month.

Thankfully the craft brew / microbrew trend is picking up in Ottawa. There are a few brands here I really like, one is literally a five minute walk away.

Wheat beers I love in the summer. Can't beat them on a patio on a hot day. Winter I switch it up - a nice Vanilla porter after a late show at the local repertoire theatre is a special experience.

Overall my consumption has gone down in recent years. Full-time job, less weeknights with the buddies, wife's pregnant - it all cuts into beer-drinking time.

All good choices. Lagunitas New Dogtown Pale Ale is one of my regular choices.

Lagunitas is a good beer. They are one of the breweries in my regular rotation. If you can find it I highly recommend Pliny the Elder by Russian River Brewing. Phenomenal beer (double IPA).

In fact, anyone who finds themselves around the Santa Rosa area in February should stop by the brewpub. They will have Pliny the Younger on tap (triple IPA and rare release). Just go on a weekday, I hear on the weekends there is quite the wait to get in (up to 6 hours).

It depends what I'm doing/eating. If I'm at a party, or playing a drinking game of some form, I can stomach a few. I prefer the non-light versions of them though. I actually don't mind Budweiser or Coors, heck even Busch I can handle (which...is bud). I'm also broke, and that's what I can handle. If I had more funding, I'd drink the good stuff. I'm a beer snob really. I love craft brewing, and the fact that it's huge in Pittsburgh.

I went with my last one of these tonight.

What did you think? One of my favorite beers of all time. I am not even a crazy beer drinker. These days prefer Cognac or some good whiskey but St Bernardus is the shit. Probably my favorite beer ever

I love Sam Adams pretty much anything. I don't mind Porters. I hate Bocks though...found that out recently. Best Sams? Cherry Wheat. So. Very. Good. I was shocked how much I enjoyed Winter Lager (tap, not bottle though). I hate that Sam Adams Boston Lager commercial where people are suddenly SHOCKED to know it's Sams...yeah, because Sams is a crappy beer. I consider Sams pretty high end actually.

First I've ever even heard of this brand.

Any place near a Metro Boston Transit Authority station that carries it?

Not sure. I am in NJ, and those larger liquor warehouse stores have them. Typically, they are in the warm section not the fridges.

Just curious if you all have access to this IPA? Costco has them here in NC. It's a Winston-Salem brew.

The funny thing was I remember seeing the St Bernardus brand when I was much younger and thought how lame the cover was. So I kept passing it by until others told me about it.
