If they brought him back (big IF), and if he even wanted to come back, he wouldn't be the feature back is my guess. He'd be behind Rawls. So his workload wouldn't be that bad and he wouldn't necessarily need to be in 100% football shape. He might only get 10 carries a game which should be doable for a guy who was still playing pro ball just last January.
