even if Forte weren't here I wouldn't sign him. He's a bad blocker, isn't a receiving-type back, and is a better outside-the-tackles runner than bewtween-the-tackles, which is away from the Bear O line's blocking strength.

No fucking way. Forte is a complete back; he's no Payton, but he fits the Bears system quite well. CJ is not happening.

CJ is an amazing runner, even now. His pure running stats are superior to Forte's. While I agree, he is a locker room cancer and a long shot to be signed, it would offer the team a sure change of pace back.

DeAnthony Thomas (spelling) could probably be had in the 4th RD. Same type of player, but with more speed, and catching ability. CJ is locker room nightmare, from what I've read. I'd pass.

You sure about that?

Since Chris Johnson's breakout two thousand yard season:

YPC - 4.3, 4.0, 4.5, 3.9

Rush Yards - (316 ATT) 1364, (262 ATT) 1047, (276 ATT) 1243, (279 ATT) 1077

Rush Yards Per Game - 85, 65, 77, 67

Rushing Touchdowns - 11, 4, 6, 6

Matt Forte in that same time frame:

YPC - 4.5, 4.9, 4.4, 4.6

Rush Yards - (237 ATT) 1069, (203 ATT) 997 Missed final five games of season, (248 ATT) 1094, (289 ATT) 1339

Rush Yards Per Game - 66, 83, 72, 83

Rushing Touchdowns - 6, 3, 5, 9

Forte has averaged more yards per carry, more yards per game, and scored almost as many rushing TD's and rushed for pretty much the same amount of yardage despite having far fewer carries and suffering a season ending injury in 2011 during the best year of his career. When he was on pace to finish with 1500 yards.

Nothing about CJ's rushing statistics suggest he is a superior runner to Forte. It may even be the other way around. Not to mention, Forte has progressed the last few years. CJ has progressively gone downhill.

He can't block well, he's not great in short yardage, nor is he a great pass catcher. He just doesn't bring much to the table that we need. Forte is easily a superior NFL RB, IMO. I don't see much of a comparison, at the moment.

CJ wants big bucks and a starting job. Not happening here.
