And Bauer is insurance in case Kershaw leaves....believe he is a FA after the season.

I think he'd retire before joining another team. He doesn't have a lot left anyway. He'll give 5 strong innings but falls off a cliff when he starts seeing guys a 3rd time.

I think the Dodgers probably give him a "Thank You" deal similar to what the Lakers did for Kobe.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports that Trevor Bauer will sign with the Dodgers.

Everything had been pointing toward Bauer picking the Mets, but the Southern California native has ultimately decided to head back home, confirming the news on his Twitter account. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand says it's a three-year, $102 million contract. Bauer will be paid $40 million in 2021 and $45 million in 2022 and can opt out after either season. He will be the highest paid player in baseball history both years. The Dodgers are known for being conservative with their starters' innings during the regular season, but it seems unlikely that they'd scale back Bauer's workload (any more than it would be following a shortened season, anyway). The big losers here seem to be Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin, as they wouldn't appear to have a rotation spot as things stand right now. Julio Urias should have a spot, although an eventual move to the bullpen ahead of the postseason would seem to be a distinct possibility

Depth.....or a trade with all that pitching.

Wow. Due to all the time off, I imagine he would start out in the bullpen. Price as some sort of 5th-7th inning guy as he builds up strength would be quite a weapon. He still has plenty left. He’ll do great in that ballpark, too.
He is a good guy....helped out the minor leaguers during the Pandemic.

can’t say I know that BP well, but possibly the weakest link? I remember Jansen was losing it there for a while

Jansen was definitely falling apart. He’s probably in danger of being demoted at some point. They still have Treinen, Joe Kelly, Graterol??? Not too great. But that shifts in the playoffs when all their starters work the middle innings of those games. That’s when having 7 legit starters REALLY comes in handy.
