Because ownership is smart and can develop talent and not overpay for crap (Price, Eovaldi, ,Castillo etc)

And it's the first time they've had that since the O'Malley's sold them. This ownership group is making the last 2 look like the morons they were.

True.

Though is Bauer worth that contract? I don't think so but that's the state of baseball these days

Just like pretty much any team with money.

You misspelled big market teams. :heh:

Los Angeles, Chicago & New York will always have advanatges over the smaller market teams. They gots the loot. The little guys don't.

I haven't seen the numbers yet. But I know they needed to do something. After Buehler and whatever's left of Kershaw (about 5 innings per outing these days) they didn't have a lot of pitchers they could depend on. They have Price, but he hasn't pitched a game for them yet and a couple of guys like May and Urias who have potential, but who knows if they'll fulfill it.

So, even if they overpaid, they must feel it's worth it given the circumstances.

And I think they thought they needed to react to what the Padres did this offseason

they have built a major contender there

Perhaps he is for the Dodgers perspective but overall is he worth that?

True. I think smaller markets can spend, they just have to follow the model of teams like the Blue Jays and Marlins who spent a ton of money for 2-3 years to get a World Series...then had a fire sale as soon as they won.

But yeah, they can't spend year after year like a big market.

 Just looked.

That's a lot of money. But he's only 30, so that's good. It's only 3 years, which is also good.

But damn...that's a lot of money.

The World Series Champion and unquestionable best team in baseball.....

Is essentially adding Trevor Bauer and David Price to the rotation...

because they simply can do it and not even bat an eyelash

It really is hard to be an Orioles fan.

He'll opt out after 2 years. The 3rd year is only for 17 million, most of the cash is the first 2 years.

Will he be #3 in the rotation?
No details are available at this time, but MLB Network has reported that he is going to sign with the Dodgers.
He’d be my ace.

Bauer
Buehler
Kershaw

Bauer
Buehler
Kershaw
Kersh will be called the "ace" out of respect for his career. But we all know that the real ace will be Bauer or Buehler.

It'll be similar to Magic and Kareem. Kareem was called "Cap" and Magic would defer to him publicly out of respect...but everyone knew the Lakers were Magic's team.

If Urias and May keep developing and Price has anything left, the rotation could go 6 deep.
