the little league team i coach could beat tolleson

He got us out of a rough spot last year. However, in baseball it's always 'what have you done for me lately?'

I coach a youth (12U) league team too. You can only take development and loyalty so far or you ruin the morale of the entire team including the player you are giving a 4th or 5th chance to. That is what Banny did. Give a 4th and 5th chance for Tolly to fail when he has some issues he needs ironed out. And not iron them out closing out a one run game against the A's.

I can see loyalty to a point, but it needs to be done on a case by case basis. There does come a time where loyalty costs you more than it helps.

Being loyal means not letting someone struggling compound their mistakes. Being loyal in this case is getting Tolley help and that means not in a one run close out. Sometimes being loyal means loads of tough love.

I'll give you credit you did!

But I'm still telling you I feel our best defensive OF is with Mazara in RF. And I know most don't think this, and that's fine.

You and I agreed over a few game span very early on in Mazara's a call-up that he caught 3 balls which Choo would not have gotten too. Plus, that rocket throw to nail a runner at home in a 2-1 win wasn't and isn't in Choo's reportor either.

Choo sucked in LF true enough. But don't forget, he sucked in RF too, at the plate, running the bases, etc. He was struggling on all fronts until momma straightened him out.

How about not facing ML pitching.

Your point is right, in that, it's unfair to Tolleson as a player. He needs to go down, take the pressure off him, the team, and we need to work with the men we have.

Mazara's arm is a thing of beauty.

Yes it is!

His two biggest problems seem to be (1) he's not fleet-of-foot, and (2) his mgr seems to think he's got a lot of work to do in order to become an avg OF.

Understand and accept # 1, but really don't get # 2.

Choo-Desmond-Maz from right to left was a no brainer as far as I am concerned. What a way to start a road trip. I guess Banny will get plenty of rest for Dyson and Diekman unless we come back but not feeling good there. Now he may still pitch them for no reason at all as he has been prone to do.

This team is definitely underachieving. I really expect more from this team right now. But there is plenty of season left and time to get things right.

This team needs a day off! It appears after all the excitement of Sunday and then the excitement that was all for not in the comeback last night, this team looks zapped and ready to get back to Texas Friday. Hopefully we have better results vs the Astros then. Jeff and Shawn took a lot of wind from the sails last night

This is how we play against Oakland. They could pitch Barney Rubble against us and we would struggle to win.
