Very true, but the Mariners have their own closer problems as well. Steve Cishek is hot garbage and will likely lose his job before long. But he's Mariano Rivera compared to Shawn Tolleson.

Hell, make Matt Bush the closer. Or Jake Diekman. Or Sam Dyson. I'd honestly take my chances with Steve Busby right now over Tolleson. Or if Banny insists on the closer being Tolleson, let's get early-80's Ranger infielder Wayne Tolleson on the phone and see what he's up to these days. I'd trust him to close out a game more than Shawn Tolleson.

and send Tolleson down

Maybe it's the Baylor connection. Maybe these guys have a bond. Tolley graduated from Baylor yes? Roosters daughter currently attends Baylor. I don't know. I'm probably reaching. I'm just trying to look for anything besides Banister is a fucking retard. Nobody on this board would have put Tolley's ass into that game last night.

Are you kidding me? (Can I put !!!!! after a ?)

Frustrating enough to push manager Jeff Banister into a change a closer? Banister is not there, but the relentlessly upbeat manager is worried.

With reason. Tolleson had 35 saves in 37 chances last season. He has 11 saves in 15 chances this season.

A year ago, opponents hit .239 with a .388 slugging percentage against Tolleson. They are up to .343 with a .642 slugging percentage this season.

"I definitely have a level of concern there," Banister said. "I'm not ready to make a reactionary decision on that.

I'll tell you what. When Beltre shows as much emotion as he did after Tolleson pissed down his leg AGAIN, it's time for you to pull your head out of your ass, Jeff.

Just his facial expression, which is a lot for him. He's not demonstrative at all and you could tell he was so frustrated.

dammit, I was hoping you were going to say he got in his face or something. It sucks what's going on with Tolleson, hopefully he'll get a chance to redeem himself tonight.

too soon?

That was the equivalent of him getting in someone's face. It spoke volumes, and Banister needs to realize he's hurting his team, and they're fed up with it.

Tolleson needs to go to AAA till he can find his change up. He damn sure doesn't need to be pitching in high leverage situations.

1 more start in the minors. Get him up to 90 or so pitches. Next Friday @ the Globe seems like a good "welcome home" start.

Beltre's facial expression btw:

Tolleson issue - Hey...i've mentioned before (months ago) that he shouldn't be the closer.

I can see loyalty to a point, but it needs to be done on a case by case basis. There does come a time where loyalty costs you more than it helps.

I still believe in our bullpen. I thought going into the season that we would see that there were better answers than Tolleson for the 9th inning and that Tolleson would be traded at some point. I still like Dyson, Diekman, Bush, Barnette, Faulkner, and Jackson.

Klein and Claudio have looked good at times as well.

Also, keep an eye on guys like Adam Parks, John Fasola, and Jose LeClerc who are pitching very well in relief for Frisco and Round Rock.
