UNC hammered by Clemson Monday. Joe Lunardi has them as "last four out" for ESPN. Heels are 14-11, 7-6 in conference. Their closest thing to a big win was y two to UCLA (yawn). Granted, they played a brutal schedule, Alabama, Kansas, Auburn, Florida, Michigan State. And their next six games are against ACC bottom dwellers. End with Duke in the Dean Dome. I think they have to beat Duke and make a deep ACC tourney run. 20-13 in 2023 got them no invite. it would be the 2nd time in three years that he sits out March. He did come one half of one game from a title in 2022 but that was Roy's team.

Sorry, but I hate UNC. I'm partial to Duke (St. Bonaventure is my favorite) for the sole reason of my Heel Hate.

UC San Diego which transferred to D1 five years ago is doing really well. I didn't even know about this school and they're even ranked higher than San Diego State on kenpom. I looked up San Diego and mistakenly thought this was Steve Lavin's doing as he's the coach there now. Then I saw the standings and was like wtf, San Diego is 1-12 in conference play, why are they so high in the national rankings? Ohhhh, it's a Cal State school, a different school than the U of San Diego which was and continues to be lackluster.

February 15th (Games outside of the rankings)

So what's going on today (aside from another winter storm)? Well, Michigan State is trying to stop their slide-down against Illinois, and Wisconsin takes on Purdue. We also have Houston vs. Arizona. And... oh yeah, that #1 vs. #2 game going on in Alabama.

For the stuff OUTSIDE of the rankings, here is the fun stuff to watch:

Saint Joseph's @ George Mason (12:30)
Army @ Navy (1:30)
West Virginia @ Baylor (2:00)
Vermont @ Maine (2:00)
Purdue Fort Wayne @ Robert Morris (2:00)
Jacksonville @ North Alabama (2:00)
Minnesota @ USC (4:00)
Wake Forest @ SMU (6:00)
Princeton @ Yale (8:00)
Troy @ Arkansas State (8:00)
Omaha @ St. Thomas (MN) (8:00)
Kansas State @ BYU (9:00)
Washington State @ Saint Mary's (10:00)

Hmmm... I think Part 2 of this season is about to come to an end soon...

LSU 82, Oklahoma 79.
OU chokes away a 5-point lead with 24 seconds left...at home. Allows LSU to end on an 8-0 run, including a 4-point play.

I believe this is Porter Moser's last season. They just haven't gotten it done in four years. I'm not one of those crazy fans that expects OU to be in the Final Four every year, but they should be good enough to make the tournament.

2021-22...19-16 (7-11) DNQ
2022-23...15-17 (5-13) DNQ
2023-24...20-12 (8-10) DNQ
2024-25...16-9 (3-9) WNQ*

*will not qualify
With a murderous 6 games remaining I suspect OU will continue getting its ass kicked...

Women's
#7 UConn 87, #4 So Carolina 58

UConn improves to 24-3;
So Carolina drops to 23-3.

The loss ends So Carolina's 71-game home winning streak. That was a serious beat down...but there's still a lot of ball to play.

Gators demolish Oklahoma, winning by 22. Great performance by the Gators, complete team effort, they are firing on all cylinders right now, they can score really well. Gators record is 23-3 now, this team is definitely Final Four caliber, I hope they can make it there.

Wow, Kansas lost by 34 tonight - looks like they’ve been overrated once again this season

You're absolutely right. Florida looks pretty good...especially against Oklahoma. OU is making everyone look Final Four caliber. I expect the Sooners to lose out (16-16) and start looking for a new coaching staff. They are not SEC ready. They need some dawgs...

...Kevin Bookout, Mookie Blaylock, Ricky Grace, Harvey Grant, Blake Griffin, Stacey King, Aaron McGhee, Hollis Price, Wayman Tisdale, we miss you.

17 wins with five games left. Last three games are Texas Tech, at Houston and Arizona. No saying they are NIT bound but it will be interesting to see what seed they are if they don't make a deep XII tourney run. That beating of Duke seems a lifetime ago.

Also interested to see where St. John's is seeded. Nod to Rick Pitino, already the most wins since 1999-00. 22-4 with only one loss in 2025, by two to 'Nova. If they win out, does the Big East champ with four losses get a #2 seed. St. John's is one of those teams I love to see do well.

Louisville is another. 20-6 after 12 wins the last two seasons. One loss since 12/14. Four of the six losses were to Tennessee, Ole Miss, Duke and Kentucky. Yeah the anemic ACC, yeah they haven't played a ranked team since 12/14. Pat Kelsey won Coach of the Year weeks ago
