Basketball Breakdown uses a ton of analytics and breakdown of actual game footage to make their determination. If anything it's probably one of the most informed basketball analysis you can find out there.

Didn't say anything about that.

I was just referencing your comment about credibility. I think Millsap is a helluva player and really underrated, but I wouldn't have him at 12. All I'm saying is that if they're willing to put Millsap at 12, it wasn't an uniformed decision.

my contention would be that any kind of model that spits out Paul Milsap as the #12 best player in the league is seriously seriously flawed.

That's reasonable.

I've been reading their stuff for a while now, and it's always at least informed. They don't speculate a lot and most of what they write about has multiple angles to back it. Mostly love their stuff on the college player profiles for the Drafts.

Really though, can anyone explain to me why Kyle Lowry is considered an Elite player. He's good, but I have no idea why he's considered a top 20 player. I don't see enough Raptor games to know for sure, but every time I've watched him play, I'm overall unimpressed. That's just my eye test.

I can live with everything, sans, Lowry and Melo.

Milsap might be a bit high.

But, he is solid.

I'm guessing Gasol and Melo got lowballed due to injuries.

Otherwise, I'm confuzzled.

I would take Melo over half those player ranked ahead of him

I don't get why he is so dis-respected all the time lately.

He is still one of the best players on the planet.

I guess the argument would be he is the best player and leader of a team that got to the Conference Finals. Not saying I necesarily agree- but i would guess that is the argument. It seems that this model heavily heavily weighs winning- which i mean obviously is very important- but you are going to see things like Paul Milsap and Kyle Lowry and other unnaturally high while guys like Melo are unnaturally low.

this model obviously weighs winning and the team inordinately high - applying way too much to each players individual talents.

Agreed. He's actually coming off a really good year where he expanded his game a bit.

Melo probably should be higher. Good to see Lowry at 18.
