Baseball: Old Timey NL or the AL game?

Which baseball is better? AL or NL?

  • AL- DH is better than watching a pitcher ruin the art of hitting

  • NL - Classic, pure baseball rules

  • Baseball is baseball, who cares?

Nothing I enjoy more than the watching the bottom 3rd of the line up flail away at pitches like little girls.

Fluffing up your ERA because the 7, 8 & 9 hitters are an embarrassment to MLB sure seems manly too.

how about you address it rather than dismiss it?

unless you cant?

You are a whippersnapper. An acolyte of bombastic naysayers. You do not value discourse. You fling poo. You are unworthy.

Prefer the NL because it makes the pitcher think twice about buzzing a batter's head.

Also, there is more strategy with 3 way switches... making the manger think more about when to pull a pitcher.

In AL... It's lazy baseball management.

But again, how difficult are these strategic moves?? The most stategy in baseball is how to form a lineup, when to pinch hit/run, and what RP to put in... and for most of those strategies there is no difference between the AL or the NL...

If everyone knows a double switch is coming, then where is this huge strategical effort coming from...

I do not see you posting any links to support your claims. Connie Mack is also credited with saying that 75% of baseball is pitching.

The FACT is that the DH was introduced by the AL in 1973. The objective of AL owners was to increase interest and attendance through higher scoring. In the early 70s, gate receipts were supremely significant to the health of MLB clubs.

Watching Tony Larussa or Joe Maddon walk to the mound 16 times in one game doesn't conjure up images of strategy, but it does make me contemplate buying another gun.

The subject of this bloody thread is moot. The DH will overwhelm MLB soon enough. I leave the DHers to crow and beat their chests on this thread, post after post. Between the last players strike and the Atlanta Braves abandoning the less than 20 year old Ted for a new $multi-million park in the northwestern suburbs has finally slain and buried my since-childhood fandom. Fuck MLB. As for the minors, if I'm ever in the mood for some baseball entertainment, I can always watch their DHs appearances at the plate.

I'm an NL fan so I prefer not using a DH but either way works for me, I won't lose sleep. And you are mistaken that no changes have been made. The mound has changed heights, they are going to institute pace of play rules, teams have changed the dimensions of their fields, etc. Your other sports change why can't the NL argument is severely flawed.

Why don't you admit that the DH was not part of MLB until 1973? Why do you deny the motives of the AL owners? Do you find their capitalistic urges distasteful or too mundane?

You make my earlier point with your every post. Please, do continue with your crowing and chest beating.

Your own links support that the DH was introduced into MLB by the AL owners in 1973. Their vote to do so was not unanimous. These FACTS are outlandish to you, chest beater?
