He's certainly not someone to be counted on for meaningful innings, as a guy that had little command before, that's usually the last thing to return after TJ surgery, you'll probably see an uptick in his velocity back up to around 100, but he won't be able to throw it where he wants

Will be interesting to see if he can contribute

Well that can hardly be considered a good thing ... especially if you are batting against him.

The thing about Feliz though at the outset was that his 4-seam had about the same amount of movement at Yu's did in the first inning last night. Sure hope he concentrates not so much on being a fireball as he rehabs but in getting more movement in offspeed stuff.

What are the odds that Feliz is back as closer for 2014?

Better odds is that its Soria, who's about a half a year ahead of Feliz in his comeback

Probably at first

That's a pretty aggressive perspective. Barring an injury to someone at the back of the bullpen expecting performance from Feliz past junk innings must mean we don't have as good a bullpen as we think.

Scary to believe the season success might depend on Feliz who will not be active until sometime in September.

No doubt he is a talent but running through the imagery of past spring 'trainings' when he was heating up ... I don't see Feliz tuning up very fast (let alone coming off surgery) to be anything more than a spectator.

There isn't much time left to begin with. It takes a while. Besides, who do you move out of the pen so that the question mark that is Feliz can step in?

You don't. Keep the pen the way it is. It is doing just fine. Tommy John surgery players usually take 18 months to get back in form. So next season for Feliz.

Exactly, if you get the chance to have him pitch against ML hitters in some garbage innings though, you do it, we'll see, if he only does some rehab pitching against AAA hitters thats also a positive step

From Scott Lucas today: "Neftali Feliz is expected to pitch an inning for Round Rock Thursday. Matt Harrison is still on for Friday."

I am past the point of thinking there are no surprises left.

I'm not counting on Neftali but I wouldn't be suprised if he could come back either. I'm more positive about Harry though

Heard he had a stomach virus. I feel sorry for anybody associated with him during that time.
