Obviously the game was out of hand. What percentage of an excuse is that? <0.1%
Injured? He's running to first, not being tackled by 310-pound dudes in garbage time.
For the record, I do agree that players should try their best in the vast majority of cases. My point was simply that there are situations where there's no point in trying-- for example, when a blowout loss is a foregone conclusion. After, there is a slim (but non-zero) chance that a freak accident could occur while running to first base. (Basically, it's a case where the risk-reward trade-off might be "not worth it.")
Anyway... any thoughts on Game 2 for both teams?
