Falcons release former starting left tackle Sam Baker - NFL.com
Okay...this tells me that Quinn does have final say on the roster.
Not that Baker has been terrible...when he played...but it didn't make sense to me to release Blaylock (word is Shanny didn't think he fit the ZB scheme well) and keep Baker who was decent at LT, but hurt a lot.
At his cap figure, it's just didn't make sense to keep him if he wasn't going to start...Matthews is the go forward LT...apparently RT was not an option and he had been getting reps @ LG in OTAs.
It would make more sense to go after the guy PHI let go (Mathis who is supposed to be a ZB guy) if they were going to pay that much for a LG. Look for Mathis to sign in ATL.
