Backup Battle - Avs at Flames GNT

With Anderson on the shelf, the Avs turn to Peter Budaj while the Flames are planning to give Henrik Karlsson the start tonight. Avs dominated the season series last year (seemingly winning every game 3-2) and you can point to those games as the main reason why the Avs made the playoffs and Calgary was on the outside looking in.

Staios is a game-time decision - I hope that means either popcorn or nachos.

No word out of Colorado yet. I think they will stay pat unless Andies injury is worse than thought.

They tried Budaj for a full season once before. They ended up with the 3rd pick in the draft. I doubt they want to go through another season like that.

Yea I remember. I think it will depend on Andersons health, but if they did who do they target? Are there that many back ups sitting on a bench that are superb? Who knows but I think they would have gotten rid of Budaj if they weren't somewhat confident in him. Hopefully he only plays a couple of weeks..

The two guys that come to mind are Roloson & Vokoun.

Florida is rebuilding. They have Markstrom waiting in the wings. The Islanders have three guys in Bridgeport right now. In Koskinen, Poulin & Nathan Lawson. Lawson was going to be the backup to Roloson until Dipietro proved he was capable of playing.
