Need to get Green, Hawkins, Sanu and Jones the ball more often. Perfectly happy replacing more of Binns or Tates touches. Though, Binns did have a pretty good game on Sunday.
Sanu and Jones are not even active for the games. we only have 4 active receivers eligible to play (not sure if one of them is allowed to come in if there is an injury, would have to check the rules)
Hawkins needs to be the DEFINITE number 2! HANDS DOWN! Showcase the kid and quit forcin the ball to Green if he is not open.... Not saying he did much of that actually liked that he did spread the ball BUT CONTINUE doing that and defenses wont know who to cover...I think Gresham is playing hurt still and not saying anything...I hope he gets better as we go...Binns had a solid game and his plays are what jump started the offense...I have to remember the kid is a rookie too...so I wont give up on him I think he can have a career as a 2 or 3 but Hawkins should be showcased NOW!
Nope, if they are inactive, they are inactive, and Marvin Jones was active this last Sunday. Matter of fact he was targeted once on a deep bomb down the left sideline and Dalton overthrew him when he had a step on his defender.
Gruden has impressed me more than anyone else.
The kid doesn't need to be the #2. He's perfect for what he does. Don't try and peg him into another role just because he excels at his current role. Alvin Harper syndrom with so many fans thinking that because a guy does A really well, he can do B. Not always the case. Just because a guy is a great #2 WR doesn't mean he's a #1, and just because a guy is a great slot/#3 guy doesn't make him a #2 (also see: T.J. Whatthehellhappenedtohim-zada)
He's going to get a ton of balls playing against mis-matched LB/S who are too slow to cover, and 3rd DB's. He finds the open spots in zone, and has good hands and awareness. He's perfect for what he is doing, mostly out of the slot. No need to do anything with him. The offense, overall, has been pretty good all things considering. Tate and Binns have been solid, if nothing else, and the blocking out of them (and AJ on Hawkin's catch/run) has been very, very good. The OL has had it's issues with protection, but Dalton does have to start getting rid of the ball a bit sooner.
The defense is going to have to find some serious help for the secondary, though. That's where this team is going to get drilled when playing winning teams. I think the offense can do enough, but it can't be forced into one-dimensional play calling because the defense can't hold its own.
care to explain? And this isnt an arguement just honestly want to know why you feel that way?
The offensive scheme has been impressive. Up to this point he has done a great job masking the lack of a true #2 receiver and the lack of a deep threat outside of Green. Players are getting open all over the field (including Green despite double teams and the aforementioned) and being put in a position to make big plays after the catch.
That said, my biggest concern right now is Tate and Binns have been running many of the same repeated short routes without ever really going long, so it may only be a matter of time before teams figure it out. We'll see how Gruden adjusts.

Tate did get behind the defense on Sunday - Likely because the defense was sitting on the short route.
I've been impressed with Binns physicality. He looks 'big' out there on the field. But time will tell whether they can continue to be successful. We basically played Cleveland's back-ups on Sunday so I'll be anxious to see how things go the rest of the year.
I agree. I was impressed with Binns Sunday. He looked big, physical and sure handed out there, but Cleveland isn't that good. The next few weeks we don't play any great secondaries so hopefully we can get Binns, Tate and Gresham involved and get them some momentum built up going into the hard part of our schedule.

Or maybe Gresham can just do us a favor and get hurt..... I would love to get Donald Lee back on the field and start the Orson Charles era as well. Gresham pisses me off.
He kills me. Then he makes a catch like he did on the sidelines on that bobble and I realize the potential he has. I'm not sure what is wrong with him but he needs to step it up or Lee and Charles need to get significant playing time.
