I certainly will wear a harness. Found aReally nice vest style on that's not as cumbersome as the strapping kind.

What a sad story, i always wear my harness when in my tree stand and i don't even use a climber, i hunt out of a two man ladder stand.

Is it a little overkill to use the harness all the way up the tree though?

You see it in the instructional stuff but it seems like a hassle that most folks wouldn't abide by.

no, i rather be too safe then to end up like this guy, i love my life too much to die right now because i'm too lazy to use a harness.

I do it. I am always connected. It is a pain but I would rather take the extra 5-8 mins then die or get hurt.

I suppose. I don't feel like a fall is imminent while climbing but rather, a lean too far, a base kicking out from the tree, falling asleep etc.

Not that you guys aren't 100% correct.

never hunted in a tree and never will

very sad story indeed. Embedded within that story however is how some dumb fuck got off by "mistakenly" killing another hunter. I HATE THAT SHIT WITH A PASSION

I thought he was a deer, I thought he was a bear if you have to THINK what it is as opposed to SEEING what it is YOU DON"T FUCKING SHOOT

first order of safety - identify your target and beyond

Amen packerz.

Remember that shit with Cheney and how the outfitter tried to save his ass by claiming that the dude who got shot failed to announce his return to the group?

Utter horseshit. How do you shoot a fellow wearing orange on the ground 30ft away? Well, maybe a senile old batfart with a gun who had beers at lunch does that.

Yeah, dying can ruin your whole hunt!

I got the vest style one from Bowhunters. It's the one Cabela's has for $59.99 and it's a breeze to put on and seems to be higher quality than the pricier ones I tried on at the store. Slide it on, snap the steel belt, bring each leg under and around like motorcycle chaps and in three quick points, it's on solid.

That friggin' pile of spaghetti that came with my stand would take an engineer to put on!

OMG so true. Those things are extremely painful. I tried mine once and just giggled. Had my wife helping me and between the 2 of us I never got it on right.
