"Auditor: LSU overpaid Brian Kelly by more than $1M in 2022":

An audit of LSU’s athletics department found that head football coach Brian Kelly was overpaid a little more than $1 million last year.

The report released this week by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor’s office says the university began making supplemental payments to Kelly's LLC in May but also continued to make supplemental payments to the coach directly, resulting in monthly double payments until LSU management became aware of the error in November.

They were paying his salary TWICE, and no one noticed for HALF A YEAR!?

State auditors noted multiple errors related to coaches' pay by the university’s athletics program last year. The school also misclassified nearly $6.7 million in severance payments as coaching salaries, benefits and bonuses on its Statement of Revenues and Expenses and omitted nearly $140 million in debt on its NCAA Financial Report.

Is this incompetence, or is this corruption?!

Respect where it's due, though: Brian Kelly definitely overperformed and had a great first season, so I guess he was worth this "bonus."

I'm more interested in the story of whether or not Kelly noticed, why he did or did not, and why he did or did not say anything.

Ya gotta believe he noticed an extra million in his checking account. Especially since he recently changed where the money was to go. It was spose to go into his LLC acount, which it did, then it was again added to his other account.
He didn't notic?....fuh get a bout it.!

His "salary" is only $400,000 per year plus $8,600,000 in "supplemental" pay. Clearly the "$1,001,368 extra" has to be part of his "supplemental" pay. There is still around $6 million going elsewhere. His finances are complex enough that he MUST have an accountant. He can't be much of an accountant if he didn't notice the "extra cash" for 6 months. The accountant is probably part of the LLC also. Maybe the accountant DID notice and if no one else noticed he planned on having the LLC pay him the "extra" cash at the end of the year.
