My league is changing over to an auction draft this year. This is, of course, against my wishes. I've never done an auction draft in my life. Not for football either. Nevertheless, that's what the majority wants.

To those of you familiar with auction drafts...

What's your best advice to somebody in my shoes? How much of my budget should I be willing to spend up on the big name studs? In general, what's your philosophy/approach?

Personally, I'd rather two $25 hitters than one $48 and a $2. Pitching is tricky, as you don't want to waste a chunk on one...but would make sure I don't miss out on 2nd and 3rd tiers that I like.

Rosters, budgets, league size, free agency all may sway opinion, but I like to put some focus on the cheaper up and comers (I guess, who doesn't?)...
