I like your beard.
I really don't see Parise in Minnesota. I guess hometown has a pull, but Minnesota isn't really in a fantastic place currently roster wise.
Why do most people feel Parise will end up in the Atlantic division?

Because I reallllly freaking want him
Gotta think the Parise Showdown is between NJ, DET, and PIT. With MIN as a longer shot for his services. I think the Pens *may* be focused more on Suter (which I think is why originally Shero wanted to trade for his rights...because then he'd know which direction to take), but they have the money to do both to a degree. If they really want both though: move Martin. And I think it may eventually come to that. Teams are bidding for PaulMart. Other hockey people are saying that the Pens are also in on Ryan and Schultz, though I don't think Schultz is the answer if it's the Schultz I think it is. I think Ryan may be the back up plan if Parise doesn't come though. Or if Suter becomes too pricey. What do people think those guys will ask for on the market? Not what they'll get from the bottom teams, but what they'll ask for from contenders?
OK, I can buy that, but we want him too.
That and the rumors are rampant. The real reason I think the Pens are big players is this: Shero wouldn't move Michalek (not just Staal) for the package he did (which included zero NHL level talent) just to move him. He's clearing space, and you gotta think Parise is a part of that.
Where do the Pens sit cap wise? Also does anyone have that link to the NHL team's cap space?
With those moves it's just over $14million, and capgeek.com is the site you need. Great stuff. Also, I have a feeling Paul Martin will likely be moved, which is another $5million contract (I do expect salary in return however). If Martin is moved, Shero is offering both Suter and Parise. That's my gut feeling. If he doesn't move him, then it's much more up in the air. As I said earlier, I think Suter is his focus, just based on his apparent attempts to acquire his rights. I just think Suter is a tougher sell than Parise.
Verizon made a Penguins commercial? You guys arent even making the playoffs, book it.
The Islanders start the season against Pittsburgh & Philly. I'll know how bad my team is early this year. Thanks Bettman, you ASSHOLE!!
Would you rather have you hopes up?
I kid, I kid. It'll be a good measuring stick to see how your team stacks up against some of the contenders. If you guys win one, it'll be a huge boost of confidence.
As of right now our D looks like this:
MacDonald Hamonic
Streit Donovan
Visnovsky De Haan
I didn't want to put the two kids together. They need a vet to help them out. That's a scary bad top 6 if you ask me. Every team in the league will be looking forward to playing against them.
Yeah, the Isles don't seem like a big threat to me this year.
Of course, that just means they'll beat the Flyers in the conference finals en route to winning the Cup in 16 playoff games.
But who plays in front of them long-term?
Tavares begins a 6 year deal this year. Moulson is signed for 2 more years. Okposo & Grabner have 4 years left on their deals. Nielsen begins a 4 year deal this year. Bailey is signed for this season after which he'll be an RFA. Matt Martin is an RFA right now. The Islanders have a lot of forward prospects coming. Strome, Nelson, Kabanov, Cizikas, Ullstrom, Sundstrom, Nino & others. I'm not worried about the forwards long term. The kids just need time to develop.
