Best signing for the Bengals...Minter is a legit upgrade....coupled with a top 10 pick, maybe they won't drop back. I'm still not sure they've done enough on the OL...we shall see.
As cincygrad said it, they had a bad O-line even with Whitworth & Zeitler (their best players). Hard to imagine it getting better.Best signing for the Bengals...Minter is a legit upgrade....coupled with a top 10 pick, maybe they won't drop back. Seems like they are trying to go with a youth movement all over the field. Clearing out aged vets like: Whit, Maualuga, & Peko.
I think they are another year or 2 from being in playoff contention. But we've seen them fool everyone and do well with less talent. Not sure what to expect.
"bad" might be a little strong, but I do think they have some challenges this yr on the OL...but if they can fix those quickly, they still have enough weapons to be a pretty good OFC. IMO CIN has just had to overcome too many OC/DC changes lately and as much as they tried to keep a lot of the same stuff in play on OFC, it was bound to catch up at some point.
Today, I'm thinking 9 wins high side for '17, maybe they're a game better or worse.
I think 'bad' was being overly fair..... They were pretty awful last year (with Whit and Zeitler).
I suppose you could say they have raw talent - Their tackles were both high draft picks and now former top 10 pick Andre Smith returns (moving to guard). However, with the exception of Clint Boiling, they don't have a single above-average option (proven anyway) at any position on the line.
I like the youth movement on defense.... They did look old last year. And there is still a lot of talent on that side of the ball. Two years ago they were the 2nd best team in scoring defense. I'm not sure they'll get back to that point, but I can see them in the top 10.
As they shouldn't... Pick #12 is a different story
It all boils down to how their scouting department views the draft class in comparison to Jimmy G. I have a feeling that they are fearing about waiting to take a QB. They have to still be kicking themselves over passing on Wentz. If they trade #12 for Jimmy G straight up...same ole Browns, they got fleeced imo. If they get Jimmy and say a 3rd rder for #12, not great, but I might do that.

I like Jimmy G far more than I did any of the other NE backups that cashed in elsewhere: Cassel, Hoyer, or Mallett. A lot of the same traits as those guys like arm strength & accuracy, but what sets him apart is he seems to have a much better cerebral game. He has great awareness. I've seen him move DBs with his eyes, which is pretty rare. And LA kicking themselves for jumping up to get Goff...lol
IMO Jimmy G is not going to be that great away from the NE nest....but he is better than any of the top 4 QBs in this class today...in a yr...two? IDK if he will be.

If given the chance, I believe he has a much better chance at being successful.
Damn @ATL96Steeler you see this? Ozzie is makin moves!
Ravens trade Timmy Jernigan to Eagles for draft pick
Yep, Ozzie got value out of someone that would have been testing FA after this year anyways.Yeah, I saw this last night when I was doing mock homework but didn't click on it until just now.
I think losing Jernigan is more than just hurting depth unless they think Pierce can take up that slack. He was fairly productive for an interior guy...smaller, but similar game to Hargrave, quick feet for a big man averaging roughly 4 sacks a yr. They basically swapped 99 for 74 and threw Jernigan in the deal. idk if I would like that if I was a Ravens fans but...
Brandon Williams basically just got paid too much...great NT, but $52/$37G is a lot of coin for a NT. They knew they would not be able to sign Jernigan long term so they traded him and 99 for 74.
