Actually, he didn't have 3 years to learn Gruden's playbook. Simpson was average. But to this point - and especially at the point where we had the ability to go after a legitimate #2 - neither Binns nor Tate have shown that they're even average.

Dalton has shown himself very competent in the short passing game. Against last year's last ranked pass defense, I can't imagine he was holding onto the ball Thursday night for any reason other than the fact that Tate and Binns were struggling to get open. It doesn't bode well.

The problem is that we didn't adequately address the 2nd receiver problem in the offseason. I don't care that we got rid of Simpson - I'm not much of a fan. But we should have signed a vet..... I would even have been happy with Braylon Edwards. Someone other than Binns or Tate.

Again, this would all be moot if we had faith that Marvin would play Jones or Sanu.

Binns is technically a rookie....He has made some good plays but did Andy have time to get the pass off?? SOmetimes it was oline sometimes it may have been seperation issues...I know 1 thing he out ran his man down the sideline and Andy overthrew him the ball...That was a TD..The dive and catch on the 1.....I never saw Simpson lay out and catch passes like that....This dude will get better.....he is younger than Simpson...Now does Marvin Jones need to be given a chance with the 1's??? Absolutely! Sanu will get burn with the 1's as well....Binns has burned all of our corners in practice...Lets get to the season people.

This never happened. He caught the ball and dove. There was no "dive and catch".

I'm a big fan of Leon Hall, but I think he might struggle this year. That was a tough injury he had to deal with and I wouldn't be shocked if it took a year for him to get his feet back under him.

The other DBs are below average. Jones has good moments when he is healthy (rarely), Clements is about 3 years beyond his prime, same for Neuman, and I'm not sure Jason Allen was ever any good. I guess we're waiting for Swag to save us!

I have no problem with this, but based on what I've seen so far and considering last season's circumstances, I'm having trouble being optimistic.
