It's the price for trying to trade for a guy the Braves JUST traded for last year. Inertia is a powerful thing- so is leverage.A good defensive OFer who is a decent hitter, a top pitching prospect(on the Dbacks), and the 1st overall pick. Quite the price for Mr. Miller.
Dbacks obviously focused on winning now, still got a very good offense and defense to now go with a good 1-3 in the rotation. Might need to fill some holes in the BP or the back end of the rotation(not too familiar with their BP or other starters), but they're definitely NLW contenders now. That trade they made with the Braves last year is probably worse. It's the price for trying to trade for a guy the Braves JUST traded for last year. Inertia is a powerful thing- so is leverage.
But back to the D-Backs:
Grienke-Miller-Corbin
Neat looking 1-2-3 all of the sudden.
As a Braves fan I like the move.
Every trade we've made we've gotten pitching prospects in return other than Hector Olivera, who cost us our top prospect and my favorite pitcher, Alex Wood for a 30 year old unproven Cuban.
It's nice to get a piece that will upgrade our lineup.
Miller was our best starter last season despite the poor w/l record, and I hate to see him go, but with all these pitching prospects already in the system, we're eventually gonna need to score a few runs as well.
Was on the D-Backs hype machine if they could get any pitching help this year, definitely think this gives them a serious shot at the playoffs now.
I have pretty much always have said that if you make the playoffs in this era, you can win the WS. I believe playoff and WS contender are fairly interchangeable for the most part; so I'd actually agree with this.I think this makes them WS contenders. A legit 1-2 punch in the rotation completely changes everything. Now have elite defense, top 10 offense, good to great pitching staff and a solid bullpen.
Hope it comes together, because on paper this team looks great. We'll see how they come together though.

Dansby Swanson? Shit. Number one overall pick just last year.
This looks like a severe overpay for Shelby Miller. They should have tried to get Jose Fernandez instead if they were willing to part with their best prospect. Swanson is a top 10 prospect overall and should be ready soon.
