Just saw it for the 1st time myself last weekend on HBO. - Pretty good IMO.

Elaborate on what you mean by "lived through it". I was in my Freshman/Sophomore years in High School at the time, so I remember the hostage crisis; but only in a broad, general overview sense of it.

was a sophomore in college.
watched nightline every night.
got super pissed every night.

i thought the movie did a great job in the casting and the wardrobes and the story line.
of course none of us knew at the time about the 6.

Not a bad movie, but lots of "artistic license" taken with the events

Good movie.

Makes you think about how many sealed files there are at Langley... And how many un-sung heros walk amongst us.

:agree:

And from what I have read, the Canadians played a MUCH bigger role and were the heros... not the ARGO character. I think the artistic license was a slap in the face to the Candians given their real involvement and the danger they placed on themselves...

So... it is a movie based on a real world event, but not very accurate outside the big headlines which doesn't surprise me.

I enjoyed it. Glad i passed it up at the theaters, not really a movie you have to see on the big screen. The movie does a good job keeping suspense high even tho we know what happens.

I thought it was great and was on the edge of my seat just about the entire time, which is impressive considering we all know how the story ends. Well written, well directed, well acted. I know it's not 100% accurate to the story, but I never have a big problem with that, whether it be a novel or a true story such as this. You have to take some artistic liberties to turn an actual event into a compelling screenplay. I would hope the movie would compel people into do research on the actual events, wherein they would learn of the Canadians' much larger role.

Argo is much more entertaining than NFL football. Poor choice.

Ok, I have watched it about a hundred times now.
I'm giving it a thumbs up.

on a side note, I didn't even know it won an academy award until I looked it up.
I like it at the end when they show what the actual people looked liked and how close the actors came to looking like them.

It restored my faith that Hollywood can still make really really good movies.
