Truth is that is how some teams plan. Lebron in that case can decide which club and fans he prefers

LOL...hard to believe the Cavs are the sixth seed at 500 right now and Heat the 7th at 5 games under 500......

If the Cavs lose to Phoenix (which they should without Lebron) and if Miami beats the Lakers (highly unlikely), the Heat will be 1.5 behind Cleveland with only 1 more L than Cleveland

Sorry. I read the thread title and all I can think of is

I think if you squint hard enough, you can make out the Heat's contender's status up in Heaven with Easy E.

If this white side guy pans out all Miami needs is a decent starting pg for the time being.

If Lebron told Miami he was leaving ahead of time, Miami would still be a contender out East.

LBJ screwed us over big time by having us in the waiting game. Once he decided he was going to Cleveland, all of the top free agents were either signed or already have cut their list down to 1 or 2 teams so it was too late in the game for Miami to get involved

And this is why many of us despise Lebron.

A healthy McRoberts would have been nice too.

No doubt. He was finally working his way into playing shape and started to look like himself after missing all of the preseason and he gets hurt for the year. He was avg 12, 6, & 4 in the 2 games before he got hurt

This Whiteside kid looks good....hopefully he's able to dominate the Lakers tomorrow

Lakers/Heat certainly has lost its luster.

Last year we were hoping to watch James/Kobe.

Tomorrow most Heat fans will be tuning in to watch Whiteside.

The Lakers may suck right now and they're without a "true" center, but they haven't really been dominated by bigs too often this season. Roy Hibbert did earlier this year and the Clippers recently did it but other than that, the Lakers big men have done a good job of playing defense and outworking the opposition.

I'd be impressed if Whiteside can dominate the Lakers. The Lakers may not be talent-heavy, but their bigs are certainly hustle-heavy.

I wasn't implying Whiteside would do anything.
I'd call the game a complete toss up.
The most shocking result will be if I'm watching past halftime.

If he stays out of foul trouble he will put up numbers.
The Heat make it a point to feed him the ball early and often.
It's good to see Spoelstra finally willing to experiment, and in the NBA there aren't many better experiments than a wide bodied, young, hungry 7 footer.

His scoring is a plus. Just great to see a big man in Miami who is a good rebounder and is a rim protector.

I got it, I'm just pleased with how the Laker bigs have played despite being at a size disadvantage most of the time. Not much has been praiseworthy for the Lakers this year so I'm taking it where I can lol.

New cross road for the Heat.
With Wade now out until at least after the all star break, provably will be watching the worst backcourt in the NBA.

I think scoring 85 points on most night ( unless it's garbage time) will be challenging.

of course the Heat are at a cross roads. They had traded 4 first round picks for James and Bosh- and spent the other ones on guys that did not do much

They have 2 aging all stars and one cant stay healthy, and the other does not like contact and hes 6' 11", and not one player under the age of 25 who projects as a plus NBA player. There GM will be 70 in a few months.

Bosh isn't going anywhere. For the 20th time Miami goal is not to be competing for a title by next season

Also not everyone is Boston and want to suck for 10 years by trading their top players for future draft picks

They probably wont use half of those picks. Those picks give them flexibility and ammunition to make moves like moving up in the draft, or trading for a great player that becomes avaliable.

The Celtics had a top 5 pick and a great young big in Al Jefferson when Garnettt became avaliable

The Rockets had a ton of first round picks from Morey stock piling them when Harden became avaliable

The Cavs had a ton of first rounders and young talent when Kevin Love became avaliable

half of it is waiting it out and getting the opportunity- but you have to have the assets when those opportunities present themselves if you are going to execute your plan.

counting on free agency is a dangerous game as we have seen from numerous teams in the recent history of the NBA- and even when it works out and you get the guys you want and spend your cap space- it does not mean it will work (see NYK)

The Celtics are following the exact blueprint that worked for them last time.

Unless the Heat have another Dwade coming down the pipeline that can recruit guys th

No doubt, our bigs aren't the problem. However, the PG position is a huge one.

If i were the Lakers - ESPECIALLY now that Kobe went down I would be selling everything not nailed down-

If you guys transfer that pick to the Suns it could set you back a long way- even if you only keep the pick to trade it. That is a HUGELY valuable asset and its not like you are making the playoffs.

They should be stripping the team down to the bone right now....I bet a contender would take Boozer or Davis....

I would hold onto Hill probably since he is solid and its hard to find a center- unless you get an over you cant refuse for him
