On the Broncos thread last night, they were not to happy with our aggressive play, being its pre season and all. Calling us dirty and not loving Pete Carrolls style of play...oh well, i dont know how you turn that style of play off.

Something tells me this thread will be a magnet for trolls.

Like an open invitation.

Which is why we need to end pre-season.

On one hand, you have the players who are definitely on the team trying not to get hurt..

On the other hand, you have a bunch of guys who have to make an impression to even have a chance to get on a team...

It is a recipe for controversy..

Every team looks at preseason differently. Some teams like to use it to knock the rust off their starters gearing up for the season, like the Seahawks. Others try to keep everything their starters do close to the chest and use it mainly for finding how the 2nd and 3rd stringers play, like the Niners. There is no right or wrong answer as to how you use it. Teams have been successful every which way. As for Seahawks being dirty, I don't think they are any dirtier than most other NFL teams. Their secondary gets away with a more physical style of play than other teams, but that's not because they are a "dirty" team. Its just what the refs call.

Both teams were trying to make a statement in the 1st half and the Clink was too much for the Broncos. They moved the ball well and if it weren't for turnovers and special teams gaffs the 1st half would have been really tight. Instead it was a blowout. There were no dirty hits on our side either. Just high intensity football and the Broncos wilted.

I wouldn't say that we are dirty as much as we are flat out mean. I also feel that the Niners defense is the same way, very similar to those dominate D's of years past like the Ravens, Steelers, and so on. When you get aggressive like these teams it's easy to say that they are dirty, but that's usually coming from those who have to play against them. If you don't like how these teams hit, stop em'.

I love this mean and nasty type of play. This is what builds team character and chemistry as a defensive unit. These CB's that we have have every right to knock the receiver off there route within those 5 yards because it's within those rules. Hard hitting is not dirty, it's physical play.

Since when do you ask the opposing team and their fans how you're allowed to play?

Fuck the Broncos, fuck their fans and fuck the horse they rode in on.

Dirty? No. You dont hit people after the whistle or stomp on players. Your players play hard and fast. Which is what they are supposed to do. If the Broncos don't like it, too bad.

Wow. That is serious 5 alarm butt hurt on that board. Not only are we a dirty team, but our local broadcast crew are classless for starting to talk about Seahawks players during the 10 minutes of delay while they tended to an injured Derek Wolfe on the field, and we even "bullied" rookie refs!!!

They should run a public service announcement campaign in Denver about this scourge of rookie ref bullying with a hotline to report such incidents. Get Katy Perry to do a uplifting music video about it.

I also believe when you are outskilled or have less talent, there is a tendancy to have injuries. The lesser player ends up in positions or tries to do something beyond his scope of capability and hurts himself. YOu see this alot with young players coming into the league. Their footwork isn't quite right or they are not prepared for the speed or power of the opponent and get into a bad situation. Sometimes there are hits that cause injury a la the direct shot to the knee on Dustin Keller for the 'phins. I don't know how you get around that since you need to tackle the legs sometimes.

As far as being dirty, I don't think the Hawks neccesarily played dirty, but they do play aggressive and are always pushing the boundaries of the rules, especially in pre-season when it does not matter.

Anybody who takes offense to a hard hitting defense is a pussy and/or they are jealous. It's not like you guys got a team of Haynesworths running around.

Uhh Ohh. Broncos are now claiming Welker sprained his ankle last night. That's obviously our fault as well. Pete Carroll tripped him as he was heading to the locker room at halftime.

2005 we were considered "soft"

2013 we are no longer "soft".
I'll take the 2013 version.
