He's a good hitter but it is a long season and there will be many more injuries to every team. I'm still waiting to see an interview with a manager that has just clinched a playoff spot say "you know, it really wasn't that hard. There was no adversity or obstacles at all. Everything went exactly as planned."

I'm not sure I would have had them as the favorites before he went down. They're still a contending team with a good lineup and some OF depth, although that doesn't mean losing him won't hurt. I think the bigger worry they could have is their starting pitching after Jake and Lester along with their BP, especially the closer. If this was Rizzo or possibly Bryant going down, that'd be a devastating blow.

I'm surprised this week is the first time I've seen the Padres version, with how many times they get shutout.

Soler is far better defensively and probably a better hitter than Schwarber. He certainly won't hit for the power Schwarber would have but I'm guessing between Heyward/Rizzo/Bryant/Montero/Baez and pretty much everyone else the Cubs will probably still manage to squeak a few runs across the plate.
