When you go 108 years without winning a World Series, you're gonna have to win one before I can ever call you a favorite.

But I do hope the Cubs have an 8 run lead in the 9th inning of game 7 of the World Series only to blow the lead and lose the series just to crush the spirit of Cub fans just a little bit more.

I'm not sure I would have had them as the favorites before he went down. They're still a contending team with a good lineup and some OF depth, although that doesn't mean losing him won't hurt. I think the bigger worry they could have is their starting pitching after Jake and Lester along with their BP, especially the closer. If this was Rizzo or possibly Bryant going down, that'd be a devastating blow.

What a blow to that team. They are still super-talented, though, so I think they are still AT LEAST a favorite for some kind of playoff spot.

You got to love most Braves fans, the best “bandwagon” fans in all of MLB.

I will guarantee you one thing chewbaccer. If the core of this young Cubs team is together like those “favorite” to win the WS Braves teams who had like 12, 13 or 14 years in a row playoff appearances…the Cubs will end up with more than 1 World Series.

I still think so. This certainly hurts that's for sure but they still can do it

And of course, as we all no, saying it means nothing until it happens.

the Cubs are better equipped to handle such an injury than almost any other team. An outfield of Soler/Fowler/Heyward could still be one of the best in baseball.

Schwarber might be better off DHing though, especially if he loses any mobility. One thing's for sure, he isn't going to be catching. Hopefully he'll have a successful recovery and be ready for the 2017 season.

Epstein needs to trade him to an AL team, dontcha think? You could get plenty back.

To bad to see him go down, still with all the talent the Cubs got it shouldn't hurt them.

Schwarber wasn't the reason the Cubs were favored. He was a bat looking for a place to play. They have plenty of options. Schwarber's career isn't long enough to attach that much importance to him.

His injury, while a blow to the team, isn't that critical. It may actually help the lineup. As pointed out above.
