Not surprised he's looking at an uphill climb, but he made good progress this go around especially with the weak upcoming ballots. He never really had gaudy counting stats, but his advanced stats are much more appealing. I think he gets in before 10 years.

i honestly dont see him being voted in... he is just such a perfect veterans committee guy...

I'm a big Chase Utley fan and I'd like to see him in, but I could also see him getting in with the veterans committee. As he was playing I thought it would be tough for him since he didn't play his first full season until he was 26, which is not the normal route to the Hall of Fame. And his prime was probably cut short by injuries, but he got in 5 or 6 real Hall of Fame season. He was not the most charismatic guy though and was kind of underappreciated nationally. Somehow he never won a gold glove. Here's some facts about his defense

Just because someone can be described as a poor mans Joe Morgan does not mean he deserves to be in. The old timers have let two Tigers in recently and still haven't put the Tiger that deserves to be there in.
