with the dismantling of Chicago who I think is still good enough to win it all, and the loss of the #1 goalie in San Jose and Rob Blake, add to that the Canucks rebuilding their defense with one of the better ones we have seen in some time.

Are the Canucks the team to beat in the West? Or am I just looking at another 2nd round sadness......

At this point I would say, yes, they are.

But there is still a long way to go before the season starts.

Detroit continues to get older, but a healthy Detroit team still scares me. Barring injury the NW should be a lock, so at least there is that.

Detroit had some really significant injuries last season.
Franzen, Fillipula, Holmstrom, Kronwall
I expect they will be back in the hunt this year.

but... on paper we do look pretty damned solid.
I do fear that the career-year guys might revert back a little.
however, Lou NEEDS to have a better year, or it's all for naught.

yeah Det always concerns me. Calgary is hit or miss this year. Im hoping for the miss (no offense Dash :) - well maybe a little)
