Considering both of his coordinators are known as hard asses, it might not be a horrible thing if Hue is a player's coach. If the entire coaching staff were hard asses, the players May reject their message.

BB pulls it off but many have failed trying it that way

Calling Hue a coach is an insult to coaches around the league.

Except Jason Garrett and Mike Tomlin

I don't get the issues w/ Tomlin. 118-62-1 (.655) record. Never has had a sub .500 season. Has an above .500 playoff record (8-7). Has taken the Steelers to the playoffs 8 times in the last 11 seasons. He's on a very short list of HC's w/ a S.B. win. Granted the S.B. win was 10 years ago for anyone that wants to nitpick. If the Steelers get rid of him who out there has a better resume? Maybe there's a coach on the staff they would want to promote to HC?:noidea:

The Browns have set another dubious record. In the first 5 games, they've had every possible result in a professional football game:
They tied.
They won in regulation time.
They lost in OT.
The won in OT.
They lost in regulation time.

I don't think there's ever been another team that's done that in the first 5 games.

True...

But many of the complaints about him as a coach have to do with his antics, as well as the consistent noise and apparent malfunction of the locker room. Presumably also with the fact that he has rarely if ever been able to solve the Patriots.

You don't rail on Tomlin because of his record...I think if fired, there would be several teams willing to give him the keys.

You rail on Tomlin because 9 years (since losing to GB in the '09 SB) is a long time. Enough time to retool a DEF and he in conjunction with Colbert (GM) are really no closer to a championship caliber DEF than they were 9 yrs ago...it's still a OFC lead team with an aging QB.

Yeah...I suppose.

I would say mostly, lack of solving the Patriots, and not really building a DEF worthy of chasing that 7th ring while Ben had some shelf life.

I watched pieces of this game I was watching some other games. What surprised me the most is how badly the Chargers Torched the Browns defense.

Their defense has had some good games but they've also had some pretty bad ones. If they could get some more consistency they be looking pretty good

No sarcasm whatsoever. Assuming health - for all teams - are the Browns a potential playoff contender? It's difficult to think not at this point. Put this lineup in any other teams jerseys and you're likely predicting at least 8-9 wins:

QB: Tyrod Taylor/Baker Mayfield
RB: Nick Chubb/Carlos Hyde/Duke Johnson
WR: Josh Gordon/Jarvis Landry/Antonio Calloway/Corey Coleman
TE: David Njoku/Seth Devalve
OT: Chris Hubbard/Austin Corbett/Shon Coleman
OG: Kevin Zeitler/Joel Bitonio
C: JC Tretter

DE: Myles Garrett/Emmanuel Ogbah/Nate Orchard/Chad Thomas
DT: Larry Ogunjobi/Trevon Coley/Trent Thompson/Caleb Brantley
LB: Jamie Collins/Mychal Kendricks/Christian Kirksey/Joe Schobert
CB: EJ Gaines/TJ Currie/Denzel Ward/Briean Boddy-Calhoun
S: Demarious Randall/Julius Peppers/Derrick Kindred

There really isn't any position group that is necessarily a glaring weakness. Losing Joe Thomas will hurt, but otherwise, they've made drastic wholesale changes to every position group.

Other than "because they're the Browns", is there any actual legit reason to think this team isn't a playoff contender?

How many of these guys aren't on the team anymore? :dhd:
