how does the mayor of DC expect the owner dan snyder to relocate the team to DC if she is so offended by the name she cant say it ?

there is no way you can make a deal with her or any other person who cant support the name . why should snyder give the district of columbia ANY benefit of having an NFL team when she pulls this crap ?

I realize you want the name changed, and this would play into it. But Im a firm believer that DC Gov can go fork themselves. And considering that MOST of the ticket sales come from Northern VA, I doubt the team would take this massive hit. And in fact, I think the team would end up in a worse spot moving into the city limits because any spot that could hold the building, doesnt have the parking resources to make it viable. The RFK site was a mess 25 years ago, you build a bigger stadium and it will make the traffic jams around landover look like the autobahn by comparison.

There's no doubt that I'm in the minority with regards to the name change. The media market is an entirely different thing. As it stands right now, there are no Richmond based stations that are available in the DMV. If he decides to create an independent station or purchase an existing one, it's gonna cost him a ton just to maintain and all sorts of fees to deliver 8 games back here. He loses at least half of his viewership because he'll want to recoup his outlay and that portion will not pay for the privilege. Cable/satellite? ??? Possible, but consider the numbers of folks going away from that and looking for free streaming. No doubt that there will be a significant void left with such a departure. I used the senators as an example because with their departure the Orioles took part of this market and the Nationals haven't gotten them back.

I believe that Richmond is a lose/lose for Snyder, he has three choices, DC, the current site or (and this is intriguing) at the current site of the Pentagon.

Problem with the Pentagon relocation is, its still technically federally owned land. Much as any military base is. So he would face the same name debate stuff trying to get permission to occupy federal land as he does in DC. Only it would be congress pushing for him to change the name as apposed to the DC council.

I see it as a huge problem. First they start off telling us what words we can and cant use based on how select groups feel about the word, then they are already telling us how we are allowed to raise our children. One must be accepting of another lifestyle even if it means suppressing your own beliefs to please yet another minority group. Whats next, telling us what we can and can not do in the privacy of our own homes?? Oh wait.. they already do that too.

i dont see any revenue issue going to va even richmond . skins nation will follow them . the station thing isnt an issue either you get redskins games all the way to norfolk

The Dallas Cowboys are not in Dallas. The New York Giants and Jets aren't even in the State of New York.

Doesn't matter the size of the market. TV revenue is shared. Skins will just fine in VA as they're now doing in MD.

I see it as a huge problem. I knew we would disagree on that one!! Here's what I like most about the PC argument.....It is a specious one!! Everyone who is able will or have used PC terms, or phrasing throughout the course of their lives.

It's a waste of time, so take my word on this so that you won't have to go back and see for yourself, but almost every time someone on this site complained about being tired of PC and it's adjoining police force, I chose not to respond primarily because I was humored by the hypocrisy!

Now that I'm retired, I've been trying to convince the ole' lady that we should get a dog I'm partial to the Alaskan Malamute, but alas she's a cat person. (we don't have one of them either). I even tried to compromise and agree to get one of each, but when she wanted me to promise not to train the dog to destroy her cat, well the deal fell apart at that point. You're a lucky man o have 5 of them, do you breed?

As for the PC thing, my take is a rather logical one. As long as you are not doing or saying something to intentionally harm another person or group... do you. But on the flip side, IM not going to change who I am or what i believe to pacify some one or some group that takes offense at something that no longer was or in this case NEVER was intended to slight them.

Different geographic and demographic all together. First, goatroper games are carried by local television to numerous cities and towns n Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklhoma. The Jets and Giants are carried by Local "in city" channels. Currently, there are absolutely Zero Richmond based TV stations that are a part of the DC market.
