no thanks....

so...it's a profit thing.

when the SEC goes up head to head against other conferences...are the refs paid to make sure the SEC team wins? I just want to grasp how deep this conspiracy is.....

Let's borrow a page out of the political playbook.

MSM...you know what that stands for, right?

Well, in this case...ESPN would constitute the MSM. THEY ARE sports, let's not pretend any differently. Yeah SI has a magazine and FOX has NFL and MLB for the most part...but when it comes to CFB, ESPN is IT. They could be construed as having somewhat of a MONOPOLY on sports programming as they were the first to do it 24/7. Being what they are, plenty of lazy pollsters rely on the 24 hour newscycle that ESPN provides to help them make sense of what's going on.

ESPN has an exclusive deal with the SEC. Common knowledge. Hence they are going to feature that brand more than any other.

It's still amateur athletics though...right?

Why should the student-athletes in one specific conference receive such an advantage? That is the rub.

When a team with enough political stroke gets the shaft, this shit will be changed.

The 4-team playoff was implemented to stave off the inevitable...but rest assured someday ESPN's execs will be on Capitol Hill explaining to a select committee the deets, and when they start looking over the internal memos I'm sure that some sort of collusion/racketeering charges will be soon to follow.
