I wouldn't draft him, but I think he will be a good pick up around week 6-8 when he has been fully integrated into the system and he has gotten used the speed of an NFL game.
Absolutely. The year the Lions went 0-16 their pass catchers were gold in FF because they had no CB's and were down 0-21 in the 1st quarter of every game. Gonna be a lot like that this year. Ebron, Bush, Calvin, Golden Tate will all be good FF options because Stafford will throw the ball about 700 times this year while playing from behind.
They both will play a majority of snaps. Ebron won't come out of a three point lined up tight like BP. Guessing they both start, with Ebron functioning as third wide receiver more than TE.
Our back up TE last year had 7 TD's and he wasn't even drafted (UFA). Ebron was a 1st rounder so I'd expect a lot more production that what some guy off the street got playing behind Pettigrew (who is awful).
He may end of being good, but too many other decent options at TE to take a chance on him as my starter unless it is a large league and I get stuck. Rather have a guy like Martellus Bennett than Ebron at his point.
I'm going to side with the majority here - probably won't start the season off hot since he'll need to learn the playbook and blocking schemes (even though he'll probably be more like Jimmy Graham, where he lines up to block, but then lets the defender blow past him as he runs his receiving route).
But if you watch Lions' games, you can usually see some nice open spaces in areas that Megatron has recently departed, as a CB, S and sometimes a 3rd defender tend to follow Megatron down the field. Ebron should capitalize on more of those spaces than Pettigrew ever did. I'll side with Fuzzies on fantasy outlook here - I'd rather have a Bennett/Rudolph/Pitta type as my starter, and hope if a rookie TE catches fire, that I could snag them off waivers. Amaro up at NYJ is another one to keep an eye on.
I have my doubts as Pettigrew's problems weren't generally talent related, rather he wasn't usually thrown to all that often, so unless the offensive system changes quite a bit, AND Ebron steals Pettigrew's job, I don't see a regular weekly starting TE in Detroit
