Not that know of. He was a fire fighter, who took up football late. The best I can tell is he didn't play in HS. While at Butte college studying to be a firefighter the coach asked him to join the team. After a year there some schools became interested in him and he signed with Baylor. With all of 3 years of football under his belt he became a 1st round pick.

I don't know the guy, but this is what I read.

Eagles 2011 first-round pick Danny Watkins passed through waivers unclaimed and is now a free agent.
According to the Philly Inquirer, "word is" Watkins still wants to play football, even if he didn't act like it with the Eagles. He was not claimed because of a high salary from his rookie contract. Watkins could wind up resurfacing for the third-year NFL minimum, assuming he wants to go through with it.

The Dolphins worked out free agent OG Danny Watkins on Monday.

The Dolphins need guard help. There's been speculation -- fueled by Eagles GM Howie Roseman's recent comments -- that Watkins lacks passion to play football. He's apparently still interested in collecting paychecks, if he's willing to work out for teams. Watkins went unclaimed on waivers Sunday.
