The experts kept saying that Luck was going to be so much better than Newton that most people started believing it.

Newton has to lead and win now, highlight reels won't cut it in year #2.

I dont remember anybody advocating for Kevin Kolb. the Newton hate I remember....Bengals fans werent the only ones. Lot's of 'experts' were saying that he was a huge project and had a higher likliehood of busting than most #1 overall QB's. I thought he was a project. I mean, the dude ran more than he threw in college. Typically that doesnt translate. I think he's just such a great athlete and has that intangible 'it' thing going on that he was able to be great right away. His underarmour commercials annoy the shit out of me, though.

Marvin LOVED harvey in that draft. So much so that the Jags knew it and traded up in front of us to get him. They did us a solid there...even though we ended up taking Keith Rivers.

I was just joking about Derrick Harvey, though I bet if you looked through the old posts on the 'official' bengals.com message board there were probably more than a few folks that compared him to Michael Strahan.

Off the field, I think the thing with Newton, his father and the whole pay to play issue really turned alot of people off. That and he stole a laptop or whatever it was at UF and got kicked off the team. As amazing as he was on the field I think for some people he was easy to root against.
