12 team league. 4 teams per division. 3 division winners and 1 wild card get into the playoffs.

The standings:

Central: East: West:
9-2 5-6 9-2 (wrapped up)
7-4 5-6 5-6
7-4 5-6 5-6
3-8 4-7 2-9

I am the 7-4 team in 3rd place, 25 points behind the 2nd place guy. One of us is going to be on the outside looking in come playoff time, while a team that might go .500 gets in. :lame:

Not fantasy, but I remember a few years ago in the NFL when a scenario like that played out and a good team got left out of the playoffs, It was New England or someone like that.

I remember that. The Patriots went 11-5 but were left out while 8-8 division winner San Diego got in. That scenario has happened twice since 1985, and something like 7 or 8 10-6 teams haven't gotten in.

For MilkSpiller, our last 3 games are divisional, so if one of us wins out, we're definitely in. I'm just afraid that we'll both be 9-5 (the first tiebreaker is total points), one of us will have a wasted season, and a 7-7 team gets in because they survived the attrition.

In our 12 teamer we have 3 divisions and the top 2 teams from each division go to the playoffs and we still have good teams get left out. Last year a team went 9=5, was first in points, all-play and 2nd in power rankings and missed the playofs.....................it was me..............lol.

Well, either you like the division set-up or you don't. Fact is if you didn't have divisions the playoff berths could be wrapped up in your league this week and the last two weeks would be pretty dull.

Not this season (yet). But it has happened.

In a 12-team PPR league in 2012, there were 4 divisions and the winner of one of those divisions was 6-7. Same league, but in 2010, a 5-8 team won the division.

I understand the frustration. Seems unfair. But many leagues set themselves up with multiple divisions to emulate the NFL. And just like the NFL, the team that scores the 2nd or 3rd most points that weekend doesn't always win. And just like the NFL, the team with most potent offense doesn't always win the title.

Trying not to be preachy, but we want our fantasy teams to be run like NFL teams until we get stung by the league/divisional NFL-type settings.

Besides some of the alternatives suggested, maybe your commish should set up a rotisserie league.

Didn't the Cardinals sneak in one year too? ...then were a Santonio Holmes un-amazing catch away from winning the SB?

Surprised the Rams fans haven't chimed in on this... in 2010, Seattle and the Rams both finished atop the NFC West with a 7-9 mark. But Seattle won the tie-breaker (better divisional record) so they advanced to the playoffs.

I think there were quite a few 8-8 division winners. Pretty sure the Browns did that in the 1990s. Jets too.

Had the Rams beat Seattle in the last game of the year they would have been 8-8 and won the division. We got smoked in that game. Seattle went on to beat the Saints in the the playoffs that year.

Nah, they started 7-3. Clinched the division at 8-5. Then rested the starters for the final three games. Finishing at 9-7.

Hey Kramer, this is how our 12 teamer is set up and it seems to work pretty good. We have 3 divisions and like I posted earlier top 2 teams from each division get into the playoffs and the top 2 teams get byes. At the end of the season the top 2 teams in each division move up and the bottom 2 move down. That way there is always a change in the division line ups. The last 3 years the points leader at the end of the season (through week 17) actually missed the playoffs but only one (yours truley) was the points leader at the end of the regular season. The other 2 teams were hot for the last few weeks and just barely missed the playoffs but stayed hot through week 17. We offer $10 a week for high score and that keeps everybody involved all the way to the end.

If I remember correctly they didn't rest their starters in the last game against Seattle. The previous week they were smoked by NE and figured they had better get their shit together.

Yeah, that snow game in New England was ugly. I remember watching that and thinking; "How the hell do they expect to be ready for the playoffs?"

Well, apparently they knew what they were doing. I guess...

Yup, I played Warner and took a chance with Dion Branch in that game. Won the SB because I played them.:suds:

I'm not trying to complain about the divisional setup, just venting. I got in for free this year having finished 3rd last year, so I'm playing with house money. But CBS has gone back to only having a prize for the winner this year, so even if I make the playoffs, it'll be tough to win. My team is good, but on a week to week basis, it isn't the best.

I set up a free league at ESPN where all 12 teams make the playoffs and the top 4 teams (3 division winners and top wild card) get a bye. The playoffs go from week 13-16. I've been meaning to set up a commissioner's league at CBS, but haven't had the disposable cash to do it. Has anyone done that? Is it worth it?
