For the 1st time in 20 years I don't have a boat big enough for an entire weekend. It's the little kids I have. So, we've been kicking around the idea of getting a motorhome.

I'm thinking about a used, class A 32 or so footer...something down the depreciation schedule enough so it won't hurt too badly if we decide we hate it after a year and sell. Wifey probably won't drive anywhere but the highway whether it's 24 or 44 feet long. So, maybe I'll get a bigger one?

I'll probably just buy whatever I find that seems like a pretty good deal. I can fix stuff myself anyway.

Tips anyone? There are a ton for sale and the huge price differences present quite the challenge.

I hear the maintenance on those things are terrible.
Things going wrong all the time.
Expensive to fix.

But you own a boat, so you already know about these things.
Would be great to have and go where ever you wanted though.

Yeah, I figure it's like a boat without saltwater rotting it 24/7. Water pumps and lighting and all the dc stuff is simple. I'd almost like to buy a vintage motorhome and renovate the interior like new. Recovering old pressboard with new veneer is simple as can be. Then again, 199- something 35 footers cost almost nothing.

But maybe I should start simple rather than truly vintage.
