To add, is it even possible for a team that's loaded to be very weak if you remove one player from the line-up? What is the definition of loaded in this case?

Yes -- when a team loses their #2, #3 and #4 WR's, and then has their #1 WR miss games -- it is very possible and did happen.

Caldwell likes the 3 wide sets as well as Lombardi.

Nothing against him but Tate would be a 3rd round pick in this draft.

Hmmmmm -- so the Lions gave a 5 year 31 million dollar contract to a guy who would be a 3rd round pick in this year draft?!?

Does that makes any sense to you? IF that is the case -- it is even MORE reason why Detroit shouldn't waste a top pick on the WR position. If they can find a guy, the caliber of, the #1 WR of the Super Bowl champs in the 3rd round, why would we waste a top 10 pick on that position?

Obviously, I'm missing something here. The Lions are out scouting the shit out of WRs and TEs and the offense is loaded.

You have your choice, if you use a fullback. You go without a TE or you go 3 wide with the FB. I'm guessing if they are using the FB in some offensive sets, you won't be seeing 3 wide, as Detroit will most likely be running the ball. When that is the case -- the 3rd WR will be on the sidelines.

Im not sure why they would do that. You think Tate is first round talent? They see something that I dont but that's the way its supposed to be because they know what they need to do what they want to do.

They have scouted EVERYTHING. All the way down to Larry Webster. That is what teams do for the draft. That is why they can bring in 30 players for visits.

You act like the only scouting trips they have went on or held in Allen Park, was for Eric Ebron, Mike Evans and Sammy Watkins.

They went to the Pro Day for Pryor, the safety from Louisville. They had HaHa Clinton-Dix in Allen Park. They had Taylor Lewan in Allen Park this week. They will host many more too. They are just doing their homework on everyone, as EVERY team does.

Every team in the NFL, in need of WR help, would draft Golden Tate if they could get the type of year he put up in 2014.

He has had the best hands in the NFL over the last 3 years, he has been durable and he led the NFL in YAC, while putting up 900 yards on a team who ran the ball and ran the ball some more, while facing #1 CBs every game.

As I said -- I HATED the contract we gave him, but that is because we already have the highest paid WR in football and I thought we could find his complement for much cheaper in a draft that is so deep at the WR position. I didn't want to see us commit so much money to one position.

Lionstop -- I'm not trying to be argumentative or anything like that. Right now, the Lions have the highest paid WR in football and the 20th highest paid WR in football. That is why I don't think it is necessary to spend another top 10 pick on a skill position player.

Teams would kill to have a combo of Bush and Bell, as well as a RB who scored 9 tds and ran for like 900 yards his 1st year in the league (LeShoure), sitting on the bench. Couple that with the best WR in football and a #2 WR, who led the league in YAC and has some of the best hands in the league.

Adding a player like Watkins or Evans would be nice, but it would be an absolute luxury pick. They could find a player in the 2nd, 3rd or even the 4th to be their 3rd WR and get an elite talent elsewhere in the 1st round.

just to keep tabs -- deone bucannon, the safety from Washington State is visiting the Lions today. as you can see -- they are bringing in every position, from OL, to TE, to WR, to Safety, to DE, etc.

Yeah, I know they are scouting a lot of guys but I think its a big deal when both Mayhew and Caldwell are there at the same time. I think that's a sign of the most interest.

I will be happy with a defensive player, I just know they need another WR whether he's picked early or late. I dont believe that you pass on an opportunity to get an impact player (top 5) if you have a chance. It doesn't matter what side of the ball they play on.

Me too. Obamacare is good and we can defintely insure 50 million more Americans while saving net money. Doctors are going to voluntarily cut their salaries in half while insurance companies become non-profit.
