it is a cliche question to wonder whether and where the old vet can excel cause we know his name rather than the unknown in the 4th round but I am going to as it cause i think with our front 4 it is a valid question.

a good dline presence upgrades your back 7 and vice versa as always discussed but with cromartie getting released who thinks he might make a good free safety?

I think he could work back there while he has never been the best hitter he does still have the reaction speed just not the makeup speed necessary to go toe to toe with today's burners. I say give him a 10 yard head start bring him in for half of delmas (who i still love BTW) and let him play center field.

I think he'd be a great fit, but given that he's a talented CB under 30 years old still I think his immediate future is still at CB.

If he was willing to make the switch, though, I'd take him as our other starting safety in a heartbeat. Match him up over the other team's TE and let him work...

I think there is still a CB market for him. Safety is a last resort for aging corners and I don't think he is there yet. I'd love to have him at corner though.

So, I picked up my phone and got ready to post a thread called, "I'd place my bet on the Lions signing Cromartie." You beat me to the punch.

I remember the Lions wanting him a couple years back and it makes sense to go after him now if he will sign a reasonable contract. I still like DRC, but I don't believe he will be the guy

In a situation where we added Cromartie, I would start him at CB in game by game match-ups. Houston can move into the slot at times.

Like Finnegan -- Cromartie was absolutely terrible last year. CBS reported he ranked 103rd out of 110 CBs in the NFL for 2013.

If the Lions front office feel it was just a down year and he still has value -- they could probably get him for pretty cheap.

I wouldn't mind bringing him in to check him out.

And you know damn well all those babies Mammas are worried about their money so they will pressure him to sign a contract to pay for those babies.....Once DRC has to work at Mcdonalds try splitting that check with ten different babies mammas.

this is why i say detroit is a great landing spot plenty of back 4 holes to fill and plenty of other guys in the welfare line to commiserate with about having like 80 different baby mammas

Where was Houston's bitchass ranked? If TheBabyMaker was lower that's a serious red flag, IMO.

I'm still pissed that not only didn't we draft Antonio Brown in 2010, but he went in the 6th round to add insult to injury. I would have taken him in the 4th in a heartbeat, but noooooo, fancy-pants professionals got too smart with themselves! We did land Willie Young about 10 picks after Brown was drafted, definitely one of Mayhew's better late round picks...

No, too old..and as a safety I want a guy that can hit. So hopefully the next mark carrier when he was in his prime.

Dude's only 29, that's not old, he's still in his athletic prime.

His play last season was another story, though...
