Angels Opt Out Of Ballpark Lease

Doesn't say when they're gonna be out. I thought Angel Stadium was nice for an older park. Much nicer than that shithole the Dodgers play in.

So does this mean new stadium, same city, relocation, contraction or renegotiating their lease on the current stadium?

Maybe they find a way to convert Kroenke's palace into a baseball field as well? :noidea:

The football/baseball combo venues have pretty well gone away except in Oakland, and that's about to end when the Raiders got to Vegas, and it needs to stay that way.

Angels to Montreal. Calling it now.

I'd prefer Nashville but I can see them staying somewhere closer to the west coast just so they don't have to completely redo the divisions.

If the Angels move to Montreal then a few teams are going to have to change divisions and possibly leagues.

Just move to Vegas. They seem to be all in on pro sports.

Braves used to be in the NL West. Angels can manage.

Doesn't say. Can't be immediate though unless they want to share a stadium with the DOdgers.

the first post...

4:25pm: Shaikin adds that the Angels will be in their current stadium through next season but must discuss its future beyond that with the city of Anaheim, which has issued a statement on the decision:

Interesting news for sure. Thinking they'll stay in the state of California if they have to change stadiums. Being the California Angels again though would be good.

If I was them I would leave California. Too many taxes there. Vegas would be better

That would be better for all of South County, without costing them much of North County since that would be going counter-commute at game time. In their current location, anyone in South County has to go through the Orange Crush during rush hour. North County could take the toll roads and get to Irvine easily.

Everything I've read indicates the only locations they're looking at are in southern California still.

They'd be like the Port Ruppert Mundys, who spent the entire 1943 season without a home ballpark, making them a permanent road team.

this is why so many British soccer teams are called "Rovers" or "Wanderers"; they went through a period where they had no home field back in the day
