He's worth a flyer, especially considering his familiarity with the system from his time in Golden State. Because of that alone, he should be able to help others. I think he's slowed down quite a bit from what he was and I have inklings he'll be even slower due to his age and that he's recovering from a broken leg, but its a no lose situation. It's all upside.

Exactly. At worst, he's a vet who knows the system and can help the younger guys and newer guys learn it. At best, he does all that and is able to be the rim protector that the Lakers lack.

Also, it's a 1 year, non-guaranteed $2.3 million deal. Absolutely worth it.

Why didn't they just keep Tariq Black?

I love Tariq Black too, but he's not really a rim protector. If Bogut has anything left, he'll be a far better option for that than Black.

If he doesn't, it's a low dollar, non-guaranteed deal that is easy to get rid of.

What I'm curious about is why he chose the Lakers when he had, I believe, 3 potential playoff teams (one of them the Cavs) who were interested in signing him?

Magic must have some serious mojo. lol

Well. We shall see how the whole Lopez/Zirbac/Bogut experiment works out.

Should be good. Lopez brings the offense and Bogut brings the defense. Zubac gets a great opportunity to learn from both vets. Hopefully he can learn enough from each that he can be solid at both ends of the floor and take over as the starter in the next couple of seasons.
