of course, some people are posting pictures of "Andy Dalton's thumb" on facebook. which are not actually pictures of Andy Dalton's thumb. (a guy with crappy tennis shoes and brown leg hair) so just go with whatever the injury report happens to be later in the week.
Yeah, I've seen those. Not even close to accurate.

Dalton said he had no idea it was hurt until he went to grip a football on the sideline and he couldn't. If his thumb looked like those pictures, everyone would have know something was wrong before he ever touched a football.

Rumors are a fracture and a 4-6 week timeline.

However, with anything like this, it comes down to pain tolerance. They can't numb it since he has to feel his thumb to throw, so it'll come down to how much pain he can tolerate and how effective he can be while fighting through that.

Either way, he's done for the regular season for sure.

I am moderately optimistic still. McCarron had a decent game minus the two INT's and he was throwing a little behind the WR's during the day because of timing, but it was his first game really in the NFL, against a hostile opponent that wanted to kill us, and a decimated secondary. That ball to Green was a thing of beauty.

I think if he gets all t he first team reps and gets Eifert healthy and the offense stays healthy with a little more ground and pound to support him, he will be fine, especially against SF. Then you have two full weeks of prep for Denver and getting into the flow of being a starting QB, he can beat a beatable Denver team right now.

I still think we can earn that 2nd - 1st round BYE.

I just want to see New York Jets and KC keep winning, because I do not want to see Pitt in the playoffs as I think if they make it in somehow, I think those sons of bitches may very well go to the SB again, and that would make me sick.

That is how I want the AFC to turn out, and I will feel more confident, as I think we can beat any of those teams except NE, with McCarron...although I think Denver and New York have major defenses which will make it tough on McCarron, with KC being tough too, I still feel like it could go either way even with McCarron.

I believe if NYJ win out and Pitt wins out, Pitt will get the final slot due to the 2nd tie-breaker. They would be tied for the 1st tie-breaker. I believe I read this over on the NFL board. I could be off, but I'm pretty sure that's how it breaks down. In reality, if you want Pitt to miss the playoffs...they need to lose with both KC and NYJ winning out.

I would have to believe that Big Ben gets injured again before Steelers could possibly win a superbowl.

It's NE vs Carolina all the way

My ESPN playoff machine came out as

1- NE, 2- DEN

3- CIN vs 6- PITT
4- HOU vs 5- KC

If we beat Denver it shuffles everything

1- NE, 2- CIN

3- KC vs 6- DEN
4- HOU vs 5- PITT

I think you are mostly correct...h-t-h, conf record, then strength of schedule is the 3rd tie breaker which is where PIT would overtake NYJ if they both finish at 11-5.

And really, you have a buffer. Let's say Pitt loses to Denver...not going to matter because I don't know if the Jets can win out (which requires beating N.E.).

Lots of scenarios that can play out. Bengals can still get a bye with a win @Denver and a win either @SF or vsBalt.

A loss to Denver will set the pace for a potential 1st round matchup with Pitt.

I tend to agree that the Jets are probably not going to win all 3, but I think it's best that the Steelers play balls to the walls and win out. DEN is playing a young QB on the road...I don't like the Von Miller vs Gilbert matchup though...he's better with the bigger DEs than the smaller, quicker OLB types.

BAL is almost tapped out I think, and CLE could be dangerous, but if the Browns stand in the way of 11-5...I like the chances of getting to 11-5.
