Apparently you didn't read past the date. It was known in 2003. Now you can claim that the Yankees had no knowledge of this report and we will just have to agree to disagree on that.

I will say that the Rangers do not deny knowledge of PED use in their locker room when it was rampant in the 1990's and early 2000's. It wasn't against the rules then.

My God are you serious?

You said "The Yankees knew exactly what they were getting into" The getting into part implies the contract (when they signed him), you know? Because that when they "got into it".

So you think that because someone said in 2009 that he juiced in 2003, then that means the Yankees knew in 2007?

That's your proof?

:laugh3:

Here, try to read this:

When Bonds begins to fall, A-Rod's stock will rise - columnist - ESPN

That's from 2007, BEFORE the contract.

Rodriguez is Bonds, but without an asterisk and steroids controversy attached to his wristbands. At least, that's the hope.

Most baseball fans in 2007 shared that same sentiment.

But I'm sure all you will see is, "That's the hope" and that will be enough for you.

No...the report with his name on it for a failed PED drug test was published in 2003. That is what the article says. Now if you want to say ESPN is not a reputable source...I will agree with that one.

It was reported in 2009 that he failed the test in 2003.

It was not known in 2007, the test results were confidential up until that point.

It's redundant anyway, they're off the hook for him this year and they (hopefully) will pay him 61 million to go away after that.

That we can agree on...I think we all want him to just go away.

IMO ARod is getting fucked. Did he cheat?? Absolutely, BUT the CBA states that you cant punish a guy for anything....

He violated both the JDA and the CBA. Don't conflate them. The JDA has a 50 game maximum for a first violation, but that's one piece of MLB suspension.

Obstructing an investigation has nothing to do with the JDA. It's a CBA issue, and it doesn't have a set number of games for suspension. MLB will always go on the high side with violations of the CBA, and the player can choose to have it arbitrated down, which a-fraud did. Now he's availing himself of a federal court, which is also his right.

Alex Rodriguez admits taking PEDs during 3-year period - ESPN

and pay special attention to this part:

Rodriguez's admission comes 48 hours after Sports Illustrated reported that Rodriguez was on a list of 104 players who tested positive for banned substances in 2003, the year when Major League Baseball conducted survey tests to see if mandatory, random drug-testing was needed in the sport.

When did he sign his massive contract with the Yankees? I hate him and highly dislike the Yankees but I am pretty sure they signed him BEFORE this admission came out.

Did the Yankees "suspect" he was juicing? Probably... But that doesn't mean they actually "knew"

As I recall, and granted its been 7 years, most people were of the mindset that Bonds was dirty and Arod wasn't and it was thought that Arod could bring the HR back to something we could all respect. In hindsight that seems far fetched but all players are (or were) considered clean until a failed test is revealed. In 2007, no one "knew" Arod was juicing.

If it was discovered that the Yankees DID know, that would be huge news. HUGE.

And let's not forget Rangers fans were pissed off that the Rangers didn't resign him. Can't have it both ways. I am of the personal mindset that everyone is juicing or knew someone who was juicing.

I personally believe that Asshole Rodriguez, err I mean A Rod will lose the lawsuit. The MLB has a federal exception from the anti-monopoly laws that allow them to set the contracts and CBA for the entire organization which was ratified by the players. He is totally screwed

yeah, lakers, myriad reasons to expect a fraud to lose.

i still think it's mostly a publicity stunt, and they'll shut it down if a-wad needs to be deposed for the case to continue.

Best deal for opposition and worst thing for NYY would be to force them to carry him on their 40man. Only group that benefits from his suspension is NYY. If they release him then they owe him $60mil.

No Ranger fans were glad to see him go as he was a complete ass here...he has been hated here since his last year here. He would make comments to the media about being forced to play with a bunch of kids like he was too good to be here...that's why he was shown the door and the Rangers were willing to pay a portion of his contract to do so. A-Rod hasn't been liked in Texas in a very long time and even then it was a very limited time he was liked.

Rangers actually traded ARod and there was a big squabble between them and the Yankees on how much the Rangers were going to still be liable for with the contract they had originally signed him to. Which I think was for 10 years.

I don't remember any Ranger fans sad to see him leave. His contract was killing us.
