Apparently you didn't read past the date. It was known in 2003. Now you can claim that the Yankees had no knowledge of this report and we will just have to agree to disagree on that.

Rodriguez is Bonds, but without an asterisk and steroids controversy attached to his wristbands. At least, that's the hope.
My God are you serious?
You said "The Yankees knew exactly what they were getting into" The getting into part implies the contract (when they signed him), you know? Because that when they "got into it".
So you think that because someone said in 2009 that he juiced in 2003, then that means the Yankees knew in 2007?
That's your proof?
Here, try to read this:
When Bonds begins to fall, A-Rod's stock will rise - columnist - ESPN
That's from 2007, BEFORE the contract.
Most baseball fans in 2007 shared that same sentiment.

It's redundant anyway, they're off the hook for him this year and they (hopefully) will pay him 61 million to go away after that.
IMO ARod is getting fucked. Did he cheat?? Absolutely, BUT the CBA states that you cant punish a guy for anything....
Alex Rodriguez admits taking PEDs during 3-year period - ESPN
and pay special attention to this part:
Rodriguez's admission comes 48 hours after Sports Illustrated reported that Rodriguez was on a list of 104 players who tested positive for banned substances in 2003, the year when Major League Baseball conducted survey tests to see if mandatory, random drug-testing was needed in the sport.
Did the Yankees "suspect" he was juicing? Probably... But that doesn't mean they actually "knew"
As I recall, and granted its been 7 years, most people were of the mindset that Bonds was dirty and Arod wasn't and it was thought that Arod could bring the HR back to something we could all respect. In hindsight that seems far fetched but all players are (or were) considered clean until a failed test is revealed. In 2007, no one "knew" Arod was juicing.
If it was discovered that the Yankees DID know, that would be huge news. HUGE.
And let's not forget Rangers fans were pissed off that the Rangers didn't resign him. Can't have it both ways. I am of the personal mindset that everyone is juicing or knew someone who was juicing.
