Not a great feeling about this year's Kings. Hope I look back in April and say "Wow! Was I wrong!"

The salary cap really does what it was intended to do: mitigate dynasties. Kings had s heck of s run considering the financial limitations.

Agreed but the Hawks have managed to stay more competitive than the Kings with the same impediment. In fact, the players they have had to let go since winning their first Cup would make a pretty nice team.

As much as the salary cap, Kings have dropped off due to the departure of Voynov via his cowardly actions, and the rapid demise/termination of Richards. Also, losing their few valuable assets to pay for a handful of games from Sekera, and one good season of Lucic.

Hawks were able to shed a couple bad and/or lengthy contracts in Huet and Campbell with not too much damage. But they had to pay to get rid of Bickel.

LoCal, Hawks have had to get rid of Byfuglien, Shaw, Ladd, Sharp, Saad, Leddy, Oduya, Versteeg because of the Cap and still won one more Cup than the Kings and are more competitive this year.

Ted Purcell? lmao!!!!!!!

Is Puck's favorite Jaroslav Modrý available to come back and play? How about Petr Klima? How about Denis Tsygurov?

Absolutely correct on your statement.
But I was referring to the "bad" contracts the Hawks were actually able to get rid of. Yes, they have lost a ton of talent due to salary cap. But shedding the aforementioned contracts have at least helped them a bit to stay competitive over the years.

Unlike the Kings who still have Brown, Gaborik, Richard's termination penalty, weighing them down.

But that was playing alongside a guy named Steven Stamkos on the first line, he won't get that opportunity here.

Purcell is Purcell, I don't expect much from the guy. I was happy when the Kings moved him because he was a perimeter player who refused to do dirty work even though he has skill (I remember his last season here the Kings tried him all season long on every line, giving him a chance to see where he fit in - he fit in nowhere). All his shots almost always came from 25 feet out; you're not going to beat an NHL goalie most nights from there unless he is out of position, which is what a guy like Stamkos creates.

In fact I have barely noticed him in the first 4 games and I'll be happy when he is either traded or his contract runs out and he leaves LA. Pretty sad state of affairs when LA has to rehash guys like him because of the cap situation.

Next up: Anson Carter.

=)~~

Modry...I don't even know how I missed that one. J-Blow can go eat a bowl of dicks. There is no King in franchise history I loathe more than that guy.

Biggest pansy that ever laced up skates for LA.

Warning, this may cause you to fall of the wagon:

In addition to the Legends Nights that will celebrate the legacies of Ziggy Palffy (December 31), Tomas Sandstrom (January 7), and Jari Kurri (January 14), the Kings will also host five 50th Anniversary Heritage Nights commemorating the Los Angeles careers of Jaroslav Modry (October 22), Steve Duchesne (November 5), Rogie Vachon (November 19, shortly after his Hall of Fame honors), Larry Robinson (November 26) and Mike Murphy (December 10), in which the former All-Stars will drop the ceremonial puck at center ice. Butch Goring will also drop the pre-game puck on November 23.

As much as I agree with Puck about Modry, he did make the AS team (for being lucky) so he should get a chance to drop the puck. It gives us all one more chance to scream FU Modry when he leaves the ice. I might have to fly in for that one

SON OF A......time for a drink (kidding - 47 days today).

Good thing Pucky Jr. has hockey tournaments all weekend. Pucky Jr. II just started playing his first season too, Pops is head coach for their 6U team. I beam when I am on the bench and I see my two sons going out there. Jr II is more aggressive like dad but Jr I is more skilled - kid has golden hands, in a PO game 2-3 weeks ago we were down 4-0 and he single handedly got us back in the game by scoring 5 goals (1,2,4,5,6) and the game ended in a 6-6 tie; it's impressive considering he is only 5 years old. I'll be on the ice with Jr II in 2 hours but we are holding Jr I out since his tournament games start at 12pm today.

If Palffy, Allison, Deadmarsh and Schneider aren't injured when the ASG is in LA in 2002, he doesn't make the team even though that was a career year for him. Also would have been extremely embarrassing to not have a representative from LA considering the game was here so I don't believe he deserved to go he had to go.

Modry...Mr. King of the Second Assist.

What was doubly embarassing about the lady that is Modry being the only player from the Kings healthy enough to be considered worthy to represent at the All Star game that year, was the idea of him being one of the 3 skaters for the Western Conference's Hardest Slapshot at the skills competition held the day before. If I recall the girl shot something pathetic like 73 mph.

I also remember around that time in Kings history, Jim Fox was "glowing" about how at allegedly Ms. Modry during the strength & fitness test prior to training camp supposedly "broke" some stationary bike fitness test, trying to indicate what "phenomenal" shape the soccer mom was. Needless to say, don't think he'd even make the Reign if he were in the organization.

****Congrats/Good Luck Puck. For those of us that have "known" you since the early days of the old ESPN board, we're all pulling for you to come through stronger than before!
