In all fairness, that would've been a tough call for the regular ref's too.

The pushoff though was a pretty clear, two handed push to the back. I think the regular refs would have caught that easily.

I'll take your word for it. I didn't see the angle with the push off. If it were just a case of OPI not called, I don't think people would be quite as upset about it though. They'd be upset, but not to this degree.

true, tough call for anybody. but feel the regular regs would've been more decisive and not let the scrum go that long.

at very least, the two refs would've conferred with each other first before one signalling TD? at this point, even the regulars might signaled TD after talking, but at least they'd BOTH be more sure.

I disagree. I saw the foul and the interception clearly. Did you know that the ref who called the TD on the play attended a referee school in Utah this summer and was deemed unqualified to even ref DIV 1 College ball? And now voalah, he's reffing in the NFL.

Would he have pushed off if they had the real refs? (Not that we'd be in a hail mary situation if not for the replacements.)

USA Today reported on Tuesday that Easley is a longtime Southern California high school and junior college official. They say Easley attended the Stars and Stripes Academy for Football Officials in Salt Lake City, Utah, over the summer, and that the staff determined he wasn’t ready to officiate Division I college football games. Easley reportedly has never refereed college football games higher than the Division III level
