American Hustle (2013)

Incredible cast (Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner) teamed up with an amazing director and even a Robert De Niro cameo.

So far this film has a 95 % on Rottentomatoes (with 97 reviews in) and an 89 on metascore.

There's certainly been a lot of oscar buzz for this film and it's looking like it might live up to the hype and possibly even exceed expectations

Another movie to look forward to this month is The Wolf of Wall Street. It's going to be interesting to see that movie duke it out with American Hustle and Gravity for Best Movie at the academies

it won the new york critics circle award for best picture already, which is a pretty accurate gauge of whether it will get oscar nods.

Has anyone seen Out of the Furnace? I'mm supposed to go see this one, too. So far have heard mixed reviews...

I'm gonna wait to see The Secret Life of Walter Mitty until sometime next year.

Really wanted to like this but came away extremely disappointed. Great cast with some excellent performances but you'll find yourself sitting there waiting to be hooked thinking it's going to come now something is going to happen...a reveal or a turn in the plot that'll hook you...you'll keep waiting and then the movie ends with a very underwhelming climax lacking of a worthy pay off.

This is exactly what I expect out of Hollywood anymore. Weak writing, weak directing.
It doesn't surprise me in the least.

Some brief nudity. A lot of sensual scenes with Amy Adams.

Started off really slow imo and I was sitting in the theater going, "um... when am I going to see action and actually be entertained?"

Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams were great in it.. Not to mention when Lawrence was in the white tight "jump suit" on the bed. And who could complain with any of Adams outfits?

It did have funny moments that's for sure but it was slightly hard to follow but I did understand it.

Bradley Cooper and Christian Bale did there thing and one of them should get something for it.

However, imo this isn't a movie I would suggest going out and spending all that ridiculous amounts of money on a movie ticket for. I certainly would get it on demand or redbox/netflix.

I loved it.

Great dialogue, great performances, the plot was flawless. Cooper was the weak link, but even that worked because of the douchiness of his character.

It was an old school movie. Some younger people may not like it, but its lack of "action" is made up for in spades by a fast paced script and great production.

I thought it was fantastic. J Law's character was great. I agree that Cooper wasn't on the same level as the rest but it worked for his character as you said. It did start slow and I was concerned the entire movie would be voiced over a la Goodfellas, glad they didn't keep that up the entire movie. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Bale was great, and he should be up for most best actor awards. But even as good as he was, the ladies stole the show. Everyone knew that Lawrence would be great, but I think even she was outshined by Adams.

I just got back from it and was very underwhelmed, especially considering the cast. It was slow, and deserved a more significant twist at the end for as long as it was.

It seemed like the director just shoved in cast members from his prior movies and didn't really cast. It just seemed like the characters were forced by most of the actors. I think they could have been cast better.
